Pacman, it don't matters if your cornrows are all out of whack. We love you even if the stalks are dry and the corn is wilted and the silk be all gone.

If Campo likes you we like you, too.

Pacman, by the way, politely declined to speak to the media today. He said he needs to get his cornrows tightened up, and will talk tomorrow.

LOL. Good stuff.

No doubt he still has some serious problems to work on. But that can be communicated without the need for exaggerations about how bad he was. He made some highly visible mistakes last season.

According to the stats, Romo took 249 snaps from the shotgun last season. Gurode screwed up on maybe 6-7, from what I can recall? I think that's being generous. Hardly this exaggeration

Now this is the biggest exaggeration ever -- only 6-7 screwed up shotgun snaps. Really. Wow, now that is what I call an exaggeration...beyond the pale.

I agree 100%. How can he be the best when he can't do something as fundamental as a shotgun snap? I think this demonstrates the rankings are somewhat worthless...

A few mistakes! He consistently screwed up the shotgun snaps. In every game he tried them, so I believe Dallas limited or changed out of them at times when we needed to use them because of this weakness -- hurting the team. Snapping the ball is a basic or fundamental skill for a center. You can't be considered the best at your trade if you can't do the basics. Period.

Good Lord...............How "big" was that fish? Was there a fish?

It's seems you may be a fan of fiction. No surprise then, that your opinions would follow suit. You're way off.

I saw every play of every game and I only saw 4 really bad shotgun snaps. There were a few more that were high or were snapped before Romo appeared ready but he handled them fine. To say he constantly screwed up all year is plain ridiculous. He had 1 bad snap in the St Louis game and 3 bad snaps in the skins game. After that he settled down and snapped just fine the rest of the way.

It's been widely reported that Romo, TO, Witten, Crayton, Ellis, Newman, Hamlin, James, and to a lesser extent Davis, Spears and Ware all possess strong leadership qualities. Perhaps you've been confused by the "Roy sucks because this and that" threads... somehow or another, someone always manages to throw the "Williams needs to become a leader because we don't have any" scenario out there.

kilyin is talking about the forum, everyone keeps saying we need more leaders, leaders w/ fire, or whatever the hell that is

I think I was being generous putting it at 6-7. If you think it was significantly more than that, I'd have to ask if you are even aware of what we are talking about. Tony had 10 fumbles last year, and I believe those faulty snaps count as fumbles against Romo. Several of those fumbles that I can recall came from sacks. So, I would say that 6-7 faulty snaps is quite a generous estimate. I wouldn't be able to be any more accurate without rewatching our entire season.

If 6-7 out of 249 somehow translates to "consistently screwing up shotgun snaps...in every game he tried them" then I don't know what to say to you.

That doesn't mean that he doesn't have a problem with it. But there is no need to get silly when describing that problem to make it sound worse than it really is. He's a very good center, probably one of the best in the league. #1 overall is quite a stretch IMO, but I certainly have no extensive league-wide review of center play. My guess is all of them make their share of mistakes.

or that a few mistakes shouldn't overshadow a litany of good things

Bingo, like devastating run blocking and very good pass protection and making the right calls every week against some pretty exotic defenses... Yeah I'd say Dallas is pretty fortunate to have Gurode. Every player in the NFL has things to work on.

What would be great, Dre, is that if you could shotgun snap without having a wild duck snap every single game. Then you might really be the best.

But then how would Romo be able to show his spectacular 'run for 50 yards and throw for 1 yard' playmaking ability. Man, I love those plays.

Surely other centers are asking Gurode what his technique is for snapping the ball.

I rant about the glitch in Gurode's shotgun snap about as much as the next guy, but I thank my lucky stars that he is ours instead of someone like Clay Shiver... you guys remember those fiascos?
