As promised by Tim, here is the Adam Jones transcript of the meet-and-greet he had with the media down in the Desperados' locker room inside Texas Stadium.
The questions are paraphrased, but Jones' answers were typed verbatim.
Q: How does it feel?
A: I've been waiting for this time for a long time, but it's not like we won the Super Bowl. I know my responsibility to play in the NFL and I'm going to hold my own and do what I need to do to make sure I'm going to stay where I'm at right now, which is reinstated.
Q: Who's the first person you called?
A: My mom is the first person I called.
Q: Did you doubt this day would ever come?
A: I wouldn't say I never doubted this day would come. I've kept my faith up. I'm a very spiritual guy. I always said one day this would happen. I wouldn't say I doubted it.
Q: What do you do now?
Off the field, I have to conduct myself like an NFL player to make sure that none of these actions come again.
Q: Can you say your past is all behind you?
A: I can't say it's all behind me. I work hard every day to make sure I don't make the same mistakes. Can I say I wold never ever make a mistake? No, I can't say that. But I'll make sure I put myself in way better situations that I would have in the past
Q: What steps have you taken to leave your past?
Surrounding myself with the right people, staying out of gentlemen's clubs, having a great relationship with God and spending more time with my family.
Q: Would you say it's difficult to tell people from your past that you're changing your life?
A: No, it's not difficult. Being through all I've been through, you do so much for people and then when you get your back against the wall, it's ridiculous how quick they run out of there. No, it wasn't hard for me. Besides God and my mom and my little girl, I really don't know who's been there to fight this fight with me in my corner.
Q: How have your teammates supported you?
A: I have a great group of teammates. You look at my phone, 90 percent of my teammates have texted me and said, 'Congratulations, it's good to have you back. Let's go now. This is a stepping stone. Let's make it happen.' My teammates are great, their wonderful and I thank them for the support. I also thank Jerry fro the support. A lot of this, he's helped me out a lot.
Q: When the Cowboys made this trade, is this what you saw coming?
I'm not going to say this is what I saw, but this is what I wanted. I always to be a part of the star. Thank God now I'm reinstated and fully a Dallas Cowboy. I don't have this lingering over my head of will he get reinstated or will he not get reinstated. I've just got to keep myself out of past situations like I've been doing these last six or seven months.
Q: You say it's not the Super Bowl, but what did you do first?
Yeah, I did scream. I was actually walking in the parking lot out of the car when I got the phone call. So yeah I did scream. Immediately I called my mom. I've been beating myself up, but my mom has been through this roller coaster with me.
