Sam Hurd's out of the boot

Sam Hurd is no longer wearing a protective boot on his left ankle. He will work on the treadmill the next two days and plans to test his ankle by running on ground Wednesday.

Hurd, who suffered a high ankle sprain in the Aug. 28 preseason finale, is expected to miss 2-4 weeks. In other words, there is a slim chance that he'll be able to play Monday night against the Eagles.

That's what Wade Phillips said. Austin and Spencer, both rehabbing after getting their knees scoped during the preseason, could play against the Eagles.

In other news, Richard Bartel was released.

I really hope that Austin and Spencer are able to get in and contribute on Monday night. That would be very nice, along with the return of Newman.

Hopefully there will be no setback with Austin and Spencer like there apparently was with Newman.

Barber's Injury - An Update

Posted by CBS11

Marion Barber is expected to be “fine” according to Cowboys Head Coach Wade Phillips. Barber suffered a rib injury in the second half of the Cowboys 28-10 win over the Browns on Sunday. Phillips does not think Barber will be limited in practice as the Cowboys prepare for the Philadelphia Eagles on Sept. 15. Nor, does Phillips think Barber will have to wear additional gear to protect his ribs and adds he should be ready for the game against the Eagles next week.

The Dallas Cowboys signed quarterback Brooks Bollinger to a one year contract today. Bollinger will wear No. 5. Bollinger was a 6th round draft pick of the New York Jets in 2003 and played three seasons with the Jets until he was traded to Minnesota in 2006.

To make room for Bollinger, the Cowboys released receiver Mike Jefferson. Dallas also released quarterback Richard Bartel from their eight-man practice squad. It appears Dallas will try to sign Jefferson to their eight-man practice squad if possible.

Im so glad Spencer could come back.

Agreed. I could care less about Austin.

We are going to need a great pass rush against the Eagles, and Spencer will help us out alot after only getting one sack against the Browns. 3rd and long situations are gold for this defense if we can get Ware, Spencer, and Ellis on the field at the same time.

Hopefully we are able to see Newman come in on 3rd down and man the slot as well. Maybe we ease him in like we did last year.

The Eagles looked really good, even if it was against the Rams. Combine that with the fact that Jim Johnson has a secondary again and has been one of the few coordinators to make Romo struggle, and we are going to need a healthy, mistake free team to win the game. ...That being said, we win this one with very few signs of not being in control during the game.

This should excite Hostile, I know he has been on board with this since the beginning.

I don't believe Austin had his knee scoped. It just needed rehab.

I don't get the one year deal, I thought the point of signing a third qb was to groom him to be the #2 next year.

Sam Hurd Kicks the Boot

Cowboys Wide Receiver Sam Hurd said Monday that he has taken the boot of his left ankle which was protecting his high ankle sprain. Hurd said he'll spend the next two days on a tread mill, and may even trying jogging for the first time on Wednesday.

Asked what his target was to get back on the field, Hurd said "Today, tomorrow, everyday!" He did say his ankle is feeling better every day.

Hurd, who missed the season opener after being hurt in the last preseason game said Sunday's game was fun to watch. Don't look for Hurd to be back as a third receiver until at least week three.
