Brandon Jacobs, the Giants' bruising running back, ranks among the NFL's best trash talkers. The Cowboys, particularly Patrick Crayton, are his favorite target.

And Jacobs took aim at Tony Romo today on ESPN 1050 in New York, per Pro Football Talk.

"I don't think he's that good a passer, to be honest with you," Jacobs said.

We could put together a pretty impressive statistical argument in Romo's favor. But why ruin the fun?

"I'm not a fan of Tony Romo, no. Keep him in the pocket, he's not that good. . . . His luck will be gone sooner or later. If you were to keep Tony Romo in the pocket he's not that effective."

We'll be sure to revisit this subject in September, when the Giants come to town for the first regular-season game at JerryWorld.

yep, Jacobs pretty much ranks #1 on my ****-list

and he's not one of the best trash-talkers, maybe he talks the most trash, but his subject matter is to be found wanting

Even though this is a much worse thing to say, watch it get 1/10th the attention of the stupid Ellis story from BSPN.

But you have to love how a hardnosed guy like Kommandant Koughlin keeps his players under control, don't you?

Jacobs on Romo: "I don't think he's that good a passer"

Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on July 9, 2009 4:31 PM

Tony Romo has endured his share of critics this offseason: Terence Newman, Terrell Owens, and uh, Eminem.

Time to add Brandon Jacobs to the list.

In an interview with Brandon Tierney on ESPN 1050 in New York (via the Blue Screen), the enjoyably honest Giants running back admitted he's not impressed with the Cowboys starter.

"I don't think he's that good a passer, to be honest with you," Jacobs said.

Jacobs believes that Romo can't survive as a pure pocket passer. Much of Romo's success comes while improvising on the run.

"I'm not a fan of Tony Romo, no. Keep him in the pocket, he's not that good. . . . His luck will be gone sooner or later. If you were to keep Tony Romo in the pocket he's not that effective."

Romo's sudden status as the league pinata, among Cowboys fans and others, has probably gone too far. (Yes, thanks, I'm aware the Cowboys haven't won a playoff game under Romo.)

While he's not Tom Brady or Peyton Manning, Romo has consistently produced at a high level since taking over as the Dallas starter in 2006.

Romo is fourth in NFL history in career yards per attempt with an 8.1 average. The three names in front of him: Otto Graham, Sid Luckman, and Norm Van Brocklin. (Although none of them dated Jessica Simpson.)

Romo won't have to wait long to try to prove Jacobs wrong: The Giants will help open the Cowboys' new stadium in Week Two.

Jacobs would be the go-to source for ineffective quarterbacks that get lucky.

Good, keep talking. Maybe Dallas will do something about it.

Great!

In recent history, when the Cowboys have been called out by an opponent, they've tended to fold like a cheap lawn chair. I hope this year is different.

Exactly. So what do this say about Eli? Take a peek at their stats. It isn't even close. Real easy to hide behind a good running game and defense.

the question for me is: what are the rest of the Cowboys going to do about this statement? (particularly the offensive line).

If they don't rally around their quarterback when people trash their QB Jacobs will be effectively correct.

Thank you Mr. Jacobs. We just won the September 20th game thanks to your genius comments. Hate to be you on that first carry.

Mike Jenkins might even man up now and knock you on your behind.

Who gives a **** what that Horse Faced Fat *** Says........

I FN HATE him. I hope he gets coldcocked by someone on our defense and tears his knee up. All 80,000 of us will be cheering when that happens because he's a low-life.......

I'm sorry I'll say it...and he is the only person I will say this for.

I hope he tears his all three knee ligaments next year and his career is over.

I hate Brandon Jacobs more than any other NFL player.
