DMN Blog: Blame Parcells for Hester being in Chicago

Agreed. Not sure why it's controversial or "impolite" to point out that their second rounder is outperforming our second rounder at the moment. He didn't call Fasano a bust.

i wouldn't say outperforming

Hester couldn't cut it as a CB, so now he's a situational WR.

At least Fasano has his backup TE role on lock.

Uh.... your on a Cowboy's forum, what else would you expect? I'm sure if you go to the Vikings blog, it's full of people wondering why they took Troy Williamson with the 7th overall pick.

Uh.... I wasn't talking about on this board only. I was addressing public perception in general. Whether it's Moss or Merriman and now Hester, people think the Cowboys are the ONLY TEAM to pass on a player when the truth is that several teams did. Look at the Brady Quinn situation. We were smart enough to get an additional #1 pick out of it, but the truth is 21 teams passed on the guy before us, yet people will forever consider Dallas (and Miami to a lesser extent) as the team that "passed" on him.

Drew Bledsoe.

:)
Mo Lewis actually, he's the one who almost killed Bledsoe by rupturing his spleen and forcing an emergency ambulance ride to stop the internal bleeding.

Why would you spend a second round pick for a CB that can't cover? Are you suggesting that we reach so far as to draft a return specialist in the second round?? A return specialist for heavens sake??

Hind site is always 20-20 but without the kid ever playing in the NFL I don't think you can stretch that far... especially when you expect to show case a two TE set as your base offense. Seems like that quality TE in the second would make more sense then... and still does today.

oh gosh...it's happening again...just when I thought I was over us drafting a backup TE in the 2nd round you drag me back in....I will never understand this pick...especially when Witten is a Pro Bowler and he is young....like I say everytime I weigh in on this issue....anyone that defends the organization for making this move needs to have their football IQ questioned

Hester will fizz out just like Dante Hall did.

Put that in your pipes and smoke it.

I won't be smoking anything, and don't even own a pipe.
But Hester fizzout, starting tomorrow, would help...a Hester fumble or two would be even better...

The best return man in history after one season and two games? Can someone say hyperbole, people gripe about Romo's acclaim so early in his career and then turn around and say something as ridiculous as that?

its would make you think thats the case but when you compare his numbers against the best returners ever and he fares pretty well and hes only played in 21 games.

Hester's one of the most overrated players in the NFL right now. He's a good return guy but it's the Bears special teams that have him scoring. There's a dozen or more players in the league that would have just as many TDs if they were running kicks and punts (and a missed FG or two) back for the Bears.

If Hester didn't play another game this season, Chicago would still score some special teams TDs. Their discipline is outstanding.

Uhm, you do realize that when you play a 2 TE base that you have two starters at TE, right? It's the same reason that Bill Belichick drafts Ben Watson in the 2nd round when he already has Daniel Graham. It's the same offense.

first...parcells deserves all the respect for his coaching abilities and
super bowl wins with the giants and the good things he did while in
Dallas.
second...since i never personally liked him ive enjoyed reading that he was
responsible for aids, world hunger, the kennedy murders, and the topper:
hester being in chicago. this raises my suspicions that he may have been
involved with hoffas disappearance and maybe even why i always end
up with an odd sock or two after doing laundry.

the ONLY reason we were considering this offense was because Parcells could not develop OT to handle their man on their own and to provide extra protection for a QB who was a short timer....stop finding ways to justify this...it was a horrendous decision...btw, are you one of the one's who can find NOTHING wrong with the Parcells era? I have stated what he did positive...but nothing about his 4 years in Dallas suggest he deserves a free pass when he screwed up....much like many would like to give his boy Weiss in Notre Dame.....I don't know what it is about guys that get the "genuis" label....but they have there defenders until they die

All I know is that if we would have used a second rounder on a special teams player... 99% of this forum would have had a heart attack and screamed for months that Jerrah was still screwing up our drafts.
