Romo is really, really good

That shouldn't be breaking news, but some folks still doubted whether Tony Romo was legit before this trip. His domination of the big, bad Bears ought to answer any questions.
The stats are gaudy -- 22 of 35 for 329 yards and two TDs -- but they don't tell the whole story. Romo made plays downfield after escaping pressure several times, even though the Bears were well aware of his scrambling ability.
"We knew that coming in," Lovie Smith said, "but we were more impressed in person."
Romo is one of several NFL quarterbacks who can sit in the pocket and pick apart secondaries. He's one of few who can kill defenses when they put pressure on him.
"With the way he runs around and goes out there, he makes so many things happen for us," tight end Jason Witten said. "I tell you, man, this team and this offense, we don’t have a chance without him. He just makes so much stuff happen."
The price is going up every week, Jerry.

.O.'s TD streak ends

T.O. didn't get the chance to one-up his Spygate touchdown celebration tonight. He failed to score, snapping a six-game TD streak. It was the longest active streak in the league.
Frank Clarke and Bob Hayes are the only receivers in Cowboys history with seven-game scoring streaks. T.O. will have to wait until at least Nov. 18 against the Commanders to match them.
But I don't think T.O. is too down after catching eight passes for 145 yards, both season highs.
T.O. moved past Michael Irvin on the all-time yardage list. T.O. now ranks 14th with 12,044 yards.
T.O. moved past a couple talking heads (Shannon Sharpe and Keyshawn Johnson) on the all-time receptions list. He also ranks 14th on that list with 817.

Oh, Henry!

The NFL record for interceptions in a season has been standing since 1952, when Detroit's Dick "Night Train" Lane picked off 14 passes.
Projections are always premature in September, but let me be the first to point out that Anthony Henry is on pace for 21 interceptions.
Henry, who had 10 picks as a rookie with the Browns in 2001, won't get to face Trent Green or Train Rex Grossman again. So you figure he'll slow down a bit. But, hey, Henry might get more opportunities once Terence Newman returns to full-time duty.
Or opponents might decide that they'd rather test Newman's foot than mess with Henry. I'm guessing that'd be fine with the Cowboys, too.

T.O., Romo disagree

I wouldn't call it a crack in their heart-warming, highlight-generating relationship, but Tony Romo and T.O. disagreed during their postgame press conferences.
Romo downplayed the notion that the butt-kickin' the Cowboys gave the Bears made some sort of statement.
"I don't think we're really into statement games just yet," Romo said before ackowledging that the Cowboys were "pretty excited."
"Well, I'm going to take a different approach than Romo," T.O. said. "I'll say that the team did a great job. Defensively, they gave us some great opportunities. We came in here, mission accomplished and I feel like there was a statement made."
This is actually the second major disagreement between Romo and T.O. this season. T.O. was pumping up the Cowboys as threats to break the NFL scoring record after the season opener. Romo tried to squash that talk.
Well, the Cowboys are on pace to score 618 points. The record: 556.

Wait is over for Ware

There was reason to believe that DeMarcus Ware would be a Defensive Player of the Year candidate. He was coming off an 11.5-sack season in a scheme that didn't let him loose that often. Wade Phillips vowed to unleash Ware in his pressure-intensive scheme.
So it was pretty stunning that Ware was sackless after two games.
He broke out of the slump with two sacks tonight. And, boy, did it feel good to get rid of that goose-egg.
"They always told me [sacks] come in bunches," Ware said. "That's what happened."
Ware said he didn't make any significant adjustments. He just took advantage of the Bears' blocking scheme, and Train Rex Grossman didn't get rid of the ball as quickly as Eli Manning and Trent Green.
"They left me 1-on-1 with the tackle," said Ware, who beat LT John Tait for both sacks. "That's what I want."

Witten gets the offense going

If folks around the nation didn't include Jason Witten in conversations about the league's elite tight ends, they will after watching his Sunday night performances this season.
The Giants had no answer for Witten in the season opener, when he had six catches for 116 yards and a touchdown. He was just as impressive tonight, catching six passes for 90 yards and a TD against the Bears.
The Cowboys offense was awful in the first quarter. Witten was the guy who got things going in the second quarter, when he had three catches for 72 yards. The Cowboys schemed to get strong safety Adam Archuleta and outside linebacker Hunter Hillenmeyer matched up with Witten.
"We had to get something going there," Witten said. "That was the way we were able to do that. It was a matchup that we kind of felt we had going in, and it worked out for us."

Three-headed monster

If only Marion "The Barbarian" Barber was a bit faster. It's a shame that he got run down from behind on a 54-yard run. It took him a couple more carries to score his second TD of the game and fifth of the season.
That run put him over 100 yards. Tony Romo has passed for 329 yards. T.O. has eight catches for 145 yards.
That's Triplets-like production.

Spencer's first sack sends fans to exit

As Dandy Don Meredith used to say, "Turn out the lights. The party's over."
Bears fans bolted for the exits after Cowboys first-round pick Anthony Spencer made the first official sack of his career.
Spencer sacked Giants QB Eli Manning on a two-point attempt, but that doesn't count in the official stats. Congrats to the kid.
Folks, this second half has been a pretty complete bottom beatin'.

Sure is quiet in Soldier Field

You could hear pin drop here.
It's as if the Bears fans realize that their hopes of homefield advantage in the playoffs are awfully slim.
