Bob Papa, Deion Sanders and Marshall Faulk will call Saturday's Ravens-Cowboys closer at Texas Stadium for NFL Network. It will be simulcast in Dallas-Fort Worth on Channel 33 (KDAF).
Papa is new to the broadcast this year. He replaced Bryant Gumbel, who stumbled through two seasons of play-by-play work. Papa, the radio voice of the New York Giants, has received rave reviews and is really good. But his biggest plus is that he isn't Bryant Gumbel.
Sanders and Faulk are NFL Network studio analysts. They are working the game because Cris Collinsworth, the first-string analyst, has a prior commitment to one of his other employers - NBC.
So what does Papa think of putting the Cowboys' home to bed for the nationally limited cable TV audience? For that answer we turn to our trusty colleague at Newsday's Watchdog, who finds Papa's presence "amusing."
"I've been entrusted by the league and the NFL Network to be their lead voice," a not amused-sounding Papa told Watchdog. "I don't view it as being the voice of the Giants."
