Cleveland receiver Braylon Edwards missed the final three games of the preseason with a cut foot. But he stressed this morning that he'll be ready for Sunday's game against the Cowboys.

Edwards had 16 touchdown catches last season and piled up 1,289 receiving yards. He said working with quarterback Derek Anderson exclusively over the last seven months should help him develop into an even better player.

Browns coach Romeo Crennel probably wants to get the 6-3 Edwards lined up against the 5-10 Adam Jones as much as possible. But the Cowboys also have Terence Newman and Anthony Henry, too. You don't stop a player like Edwards with one guy. It takes a group effort, along with some safety help.
There's no doubt that the Browns view the season opener as an excellent test. Cleveland won 10 games last season and many are projecting this franchise to have a breakout year in 2008.

"I think the biggest thing is that people have a lot about us, talking about what we can do and what we could be," Edwards said. "So it will be interesting going into this game against the Cowboys, who on paper are the best team in the NFL.

"It's a good challenge early, it's a great test on who we are and what we'll be this season."

I'm hoping Edwards keeps running fly routes while Ware keeps swatting Anderson as if he was a fly.

Hard Knocks helps Browns

Cleveland WR Braylon Edwards is happy HBO has brought him some extra Cowboys coverage. This helped him with some scouting on the Cowboys cornerbacks and new addition Pacman Jones. Sure, we thought Hard Knocks would hurt the Cowboys by being a distraction. We didn't really anticipate the help it might be for the opponents.

Edwards no has a better feel for the Cowboys corners. He has been watching film and something else...

"HBO helped me out a little bit too," Edwards said.

Browns coach Romeo Crennel also said he watched and found out how competitive Pacman is begging to go against Terrell Owens in practice every day.

 What has Hard Knocks shown on our corners? Newman was on for about five seconds, and I don't know that Henry has been on even once.

Not that it would matter if they were.

Oxy-moron. A good test early to see what you're made of for the season? Everyone should improve as the season moves along. These first few games are, IMO, how hard you worked in TC and the offseason. Isn't an indicator on how the season goes.

I do respect Braylon, tho. He pansied his way thru his first seasson but you can't deny this kid respect on the field to date.

I think the Hard Knocks comments were tongue in cheek.

Edwards is the real deal and Ware and company better make sure they get to Anderson early and often because even if he's covered the ball will come his way. He kind of reminds me of an early days Terrell Owens.

That Browns offense is going to be a challenge, but if we can make them one dimensional by shutting down the run then we can use our Nickel/Dime packages which then gives us the advantage.

Everybody always talks about Wade Phillips and how he can get to the QB, but stopping the run is and always has been his number one goal. And like you said, if you can stop the run and create obvious passing downs, thats when you can really start to get creative as a defense with blitzing packages.

As an article stated, Winslow is such a poor blocker for a TE that stopping the run without an 8 man front shouldnt be a problem. If we can do that then we can pin back the ears and go get the QB.

Edwards will have 3 TDs (on my fantasy squad), but Browns will lose in the highest scoring game ever in the history of the NFL. :) (Winslow is on my squad in another fantasy league).

Our Dline will be so dominant that Brady Quinn will be the quarterback by the end of the game ;)

I have a lot of respect for him as a player and a person. Last season they showed how spent time with a young boy who was part of the make a wish program for terminally ill children and the bond they formed until the death of this child. He took care of the funeral cost to the family and still remains close to this family.

BE is a great reciever who will test our secondary wherever he lines up.

Great first test of our new and improved secondary to start the season.

this title is false cause i can asure you he's not ready for us.

I agree, I don't think he his at all. He's damn good though but I think our pass rush is gonna be heavy all game long....

Last thing we need is for someone to get a disease and miss the season. I'll stick to broken bones or torn ligaments.;)

Edwards is a baller top 10 receiver. They've got some talent at the skill positions

Let us not forget they acquired Dante Stallworth.
