Tennesseean columnist David Climer paints a picture of Jerry and Titans owner Bud Adams hashing out the Pacman Jones deal while hunched over a poker table.

So what's the delay? Why hasn't Pacman Jones been shipped to Dallas?
Consider the two owners involved -- Bud Adams and Jerry Jones. This is a Texas thing. Any would-be trade has evolved into a football version of Texas Hold 'Em.

You can almost imagine Bud and Jerry hunched over a poker table, chips stacked high, egos stacked higher, each intent on one-upping the other wealthy Texan.

J.J.: "I call."

Bud: "I raise."

J.J.: "You can't!"

Bud: "Can too!"

Here's the deal: Adams' hand stinks, and everybody knows it. The Titans want no part of Pacman. They've made that crystal clear over the last year. So now Adams wants to drive a hard bargain?

Let's say the Cowboys and Titans can't agree to terms. What happens then? The Titans cut Pacman, who signs with the Cowboys in roughly the time it takes him to run the 40. Who wins then?

Bud Adams is, and always will be, a miserable human being...

:lmao: that's so funny

This Pacman situation is pretty silly. If they do the deal, Tenn gets something where they would have gotten nothing. The Cowboys get a player who could really help them in two areas. If he doesn't pan out, what the heck? Release him and move on. Adam Jones himself has made it clear he wants to be a Cowboy. He even sounds contrite and ready clean up his image. Time will tell, but it seems like getting this deal done would be a win win situation for all parties concerned.

Yes, but remember the Titans owner is the dumb, mean & cheapskate Bud Adams. He wants everything he can get for Pacman and then some. Don't forget, it is actually a lose-lose situation for the Titans. He's a first rounder who produced big time on the field but screwed up off the field. If they trade him, at less they got something to show for it but everybody still remembers how stupid Titans were to draft him. If they cut him, they get nothing & contract says he's still guaranteed $5M which Titans must pay him. Additionally, if Titans trade Pacman to the Cowboys, in Bud Adams' mind that rubs it even more in his face -- particularly if Pacman successful in Dallas and remains on the straight and narrow.
