Last week, S Roy Williams had a private meeting with defensive coordinator Brian Stewart and safeties coach Brett Maxie.

The idea was to get everyone's feelings on the table. Stewart says that was accomplished.

"I think he felt pretty good about everything," Stewart said on the golf course today. "I think all three of left that meeting feeling comfortable that we've got an open line of communication. Everyone knows where everyone stands. The past was the past and now we've got a chance to move forward."

What's come clear over the last few weeks -- as Roy expressed a certain skittish-ness about his own skills, before Greg Ellis revealed the safety feels he's a poor fit for the defense -- is that something needs to change.

But Stewart was quick to insist that there's no problem with Williams willingness to work, nor does he detect a problem with his confidence.

"I'm not concerned about his confidence and I'll tell you why -- Because he's done everything he was supposed to do to improve himself and get better and play at a high level," Stewart said.

That doesn't necessarily mean, Stewart said, that he's been in there at the same time as his teammates each time. But the DC did insist that it's not unusual that guys would go on their own schedules this time of year.

"He works out all the time, he does it when he can," Stewart said. "And this is the offseason. It's not mandatory. We like for guys to be here, but it's not mandatory. He has a lot of things he does for the community and I praise him for that.

"He will miss and has missed some things, but so have other guys."

At this stage I'm only interested in seeing the "new" version of Roy on the football field. Enough of the talk.

Can someone explain how a DC, secondary coach and a safeties coach all work together? So is there also a cornerbacks coach?

they use nextel phones.

I only have one question: where was Campo???

Part of the big "hub-bub" about his return was his prior relationship with Roy and how Roy played at a high level under him. So why wasn't he a part of this little sit-down?

Can we declare a Roy Bashing Moratorium until at least Training Camp?

I swear I think we need a RW forum like we had for TO at one time. This is just stupid, fighting like children in a playground over and over again.

Man this is getting old!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree...The people who want him gone are going to hold onto their opinions until they see otherwise and the apologists will as well.

Let's see what he will do and the rest will play itself out

We won't have much other than paparazzi, ESPN einsteins, and worthless polls to talk about.

THAT will get old even faster.

Thank you Brian Stewart.

His time clock let him down. He accidentally overslept and missed the meeting.

..shark attacks I used to watch about Jacques Cousteau when I was a kid.

Vicious, violent and angry then it's over as quick as it started.

This was happening before Pacman was finally traded.

Pacman this, Pacman that, he's a bum, he's misunderstood, he's going to explode us, he's going to take us to the next level.

Yada yada.

Then the trade came and everybody just shutup.

Then the draft came and we had to debate Mendenhall vs. Felix Jones and whether we blew it not with taking Jones.

Yada yada.

OMG.

Then the feeding frenzy started over Roy Williams..

..with him answering a few simple innocent questions in an interview with Michael Irvin.

And no sooner did this happen, than..

Greg Ellis tried to interceed for RoyW and tried reaching out to RW incase there was an issue for RW..

and the shark frenzy started all over again..

..only now with everybody stepping on everybody else with comments of dire concern about if Roy and his $3mil/yr. deal was worth it, he's a quitter, he's finished, etc.

Wow.

I believe professionals familiar with this condition call it manic depressive behavior. And I think it comes after a painful playoff loss.

Many of us are still upset and we are just going from topic to topic and venting.

Pleezzz..

Let's lighten up people.

Try to enjoy the off-season..huh..?

:hammer:

Save for Tony Romo and maybe Terrell Owens, no other Cowboy will have his actions on and off the field critiqued more than this guy.

I have to say, since the Roy comments and then Ellis' first interview came out, I think everyone involved has handled this situation perfectly.
