Mike Jenkins declared on his blog last month that the starting right cornerback job is his to lose. Wade Phillips won't go that far.

Jenkins got the first-team reps today, but Phillips said he'd alternate with fellow second-year cornerback Orlando Scandrick.

"In today's game, you need three guys, and our recent past with Newman being out a lot the last two years, we've needed our third guy to be a starter anyway," Phillips said. "Jacques Reeves played the whole year. He was supposed to be a backup guy and he started 13, 14 games for us two years ago. We just want them to get ready to play and be starters. They're good enough to be starters."

While there wasn't much to evaluate today, Jenkins performed well in the 7-on-7 session. His coverage was probably the primary reason Tony Romo didn't throw Roy Williams a pass.

I don't know if that makes me excited about Jenkins or worried about Williams.

Roy Williams can't seperate

Romo is just going to have to learn to trust that he'll go and get the ball

Romo needs to just one time throw it when Williams is opened and see what happens he'll be pleasantly surprised.

Williams is a strider he's not a burner. Romo will have to adjust to it.

Not only that, but Garrett will have to adjust his playcalling and game plan to it as well. Roy Williams did well while he was with the lowly Lions, so it's not like he can't come here and do well.

An article about Jenkins instantly turned into a Roy Williams thread.

Maybe Jenkins was just good today. He is the big, long-armed type corner who can defend bigger receivers.

shh

guys, if you watch a Roy E WIlliam's highlight vid, alot of his highlights are plays where he catches the ball coming out of a slant

Garrett is going to need to call slants, and Romo needs to trust Roy, and just throw him the ball

People need to go back and watch Jenkins play last year ..... not just the one play where he hesitated till it was to late to tackle the guy.

He is a great Corner.

Jenkins got the first-team reps today

In other words, Jenkins was correct. Case closed.

There's a competition for the spot, but as Jenkins said, he was the first-teamer when camp opened. Now the onus is on him to hold onto that spot.

If the intent, from the beginning, is to alternate them into the starting group, I'd hardly say it's case closed. Someone has to be the one to get the first rep. That doesn't necessarily mean it's his job to lose.

Jenkins may have the job all but sealed up pending the rest of TC, but what happened today, given what Wade said, doesn't seem to be conclusive.

Jenkins just shut down Roy like he is going to shut down all of the other punks that he faces this season. Get used to seeing it!

MacMahon said Jenkins got "the first-team reps," not just the "first rep."

Jenkins said he was the starter heading into training camp, and he was. Whether he holds onto the job remains to be seen, but I'd say it was case closed that he was, indeed, the starter heading into training camp.

From Smoaky's camp report
Romo 15-yard post for Roy Williams, good timing on that play.
Smoaky and Grizz reported it was Mike Hawkins that tipped the pass intercepted by Mike Hamlin, while MacMahon reported it was Courtney Brown. Who has it right I would guess it is Smoaky and Grizz but I'm not sure, does anyone know?

Ok I see he is talking about strictly the 7 on 7 drills when it comes to Romo and Williams but I still wonder about the tipped pass.

Big you know how the grapevine here works. Topics are not to be taken literally, they are merely guidelines. :)
