I'd take McCalister over ball in a new york minute.

I would to if you are talking about one play, one game, or even one year. But a team has much more to consider. If they think Ball is and will be a good player for many years to come and McCallister would only be around for one year, then the decision becomes more difficult. Then there is the salary cap to consider. Ball has to be near the minimum while McCallister would cost much more even if he just got the veteran minimum.

First of all- McAlister would start opposite Newman- until he could not fend off Jenkins or Scandrick. Second of all- Just say No. McAlister is a punk. I live here in Baltimore and he's a fine instinctive CB but he's a grade A Jerk and has had numerous minor legal scraps in his stint in Baltimore.

Not the kind of guy we need on this team.

Ladies and gentleman....Mike Jenkins is a FIRST ROUDNER. FIRST ROUNDERS on non playoff teams SHOULD AND NEED TO PLAY. When you CONTINUE to let first rounders rot on your bench playing behind veterans that cannot make and or win playoff games....then you have another Bobby Carpenter, Anthony Spencer, Marcus Spears......in the making. Here are our last 6 first round picks

Dware
Spears
Carpenter
Spencer
Felix Jones
Mike Jenkins

Other than DWare.....who has made a real impact? Other than Dware....who has had a CHANCE to make a real impact? Now we have Spears in the FINAL year of his deal and we are going to give him a chance to see if he can stick. And I am praying we do NOT keep playing Ellis at the expense of finding out what we have in Spencer. You cannot just disregard first round picks without even finding out if they can play. That is the quickest way to 5-11. That is WHY we drafted so many OLB/DBs....to protect ourselves against Spencer/Carpenter types busting. First round picks need to be expended at other positions going forward....so the Cowboys are hoping Spencer and Jenkins get going.....in the event they don't, maybe some of these rookies can soften the blow of a potential first round bust

So NO to McCallister. The Cowboys have ENOUGH in this lockeroom...both the front office people and the team needs to STOP looking for answers from guys near the end. You cannot pay Romo what you paid him...then look outside for LEADERS. You cannot pay Newman what you pay him...then look outside for leaders. You are about to make Dware the highest paid defensive player in the NFL HISTORY....LEADERSHIP should be demanded and expected from a man that highly compensated. Ditto for Roy Williams. Ditto for Leoanard Davis.

Stop brining guys at the end of there careers into Dallas LOOKING for leadership. You are letting these highly compensated guys that you just HAD to have (read Leonard Davis)...off the hook for providing what should be part of their job responsiblities.

Jason Garret is like the highest paid OC in NFL history....we paid Hudson Houck a pretty penny to be the OL coach...you paid these guys because you think they are some of the best at what they do....well LET THEM DO IT.

I really don't think he's what we need. He isn't going to beat out Jenkins or Scandrick, unless the coaching staff just went with him because he's a name, and in that case he's slowing up the progress of two players who I believe, at this point, are better players.

Pass.

McAlister could be a very good CB if he is healthy, but your point is well taken. We aren't going to push Jenkins and Scandrick down just to make room for a player who might also get in the way of our draftees.

Now if Newman pulls his habitual gimp act early in the preseason, we could see this revisited if he hasn't signed with someone else already.

McAlister is a zone CB. He is not a man to man Cover Corner, per say. In his earlier years, he had the ability to play either style but he has always beena much better Zone Corner, IMO, then Cover Corner. At this stage of his career, I don't see what he brings to the table in comparison to what we would have to give up. Scandrick is a very good Zone Corner. Ball and DeAngelo Smith are also probably better suited to Zone Corner games as well. I don't know that the money investment it would take to get McAlister would be money best spent. JMO

Pass...I know a lot of ravens fan were not sad to see him go. They complained he gambled to much and gave up to many plays. We don't need that in our secondary.

I'd love to have him as a safety used in package situations.

I'm sick of mental mistakes that our safeties have, and this guy is an upgrade in coverage compared to any safety that we currently have.

Cris would be interested in the Cowboys? I know he was about 6 years ago. I think I'll place a phone call to a mutual friend. I'd love to have contact with a player again.

I've played in his charity golf tournament here in Tucson twice and had an Accounting class with him at Arizona. Good guy.

See if he can help me with my taxes.
