The Cowboys will be wheeling and dealing this weekend, but the odds are slim that they'll trade a player that's already on the roster.

"We could have some scenarios," Jerry Jones said. "You could possibly do that. That's a reach though. That's a bad time to be trading players. Draft picks are at their premium, right then and there. And players are at their least, right then."

There has been speculation that RB Tashard Choice, a fourth-round pick who was the Cowboys' best offensive player in December, could be trade bait. It's hard to see how that makes much sense.

The Cowboys have two backs coming off toe injuries, and Choice has proven that they can rely on him. He's locked up to an inexpensive contract for three more seasons. By that point, he might be splitting time with Felix Jones. He's worth more than the third-round pick the Cowboys could get for him this weekend.

I hope Jerry sticks to his guns on that. Choice and Felix represent more than just this year they provide us a future so that we remain competitive for a good while

Glad that myth is now dispelled. We will probably keep our players, so no more Barber and Choice trade speculation. I do hope we move up if the opportunity for a quality player presents itself. We have enough picks to do it.

Jerry has said in the past that it is not the right time to trade players around draft time....yet we traded Fasano and The model LB.

lol.

Jerry says this every year and then in turn makes moves.

Last year on the friday before the draft he said the pacman trade was dead and didnt think the teams would work it out.

Saturday night, pacman is traded!

two years ago, jerry gave a long winded speech, just like yesterday where he said you dont trade players on draft weekend because players are at their lowest value and picks at their highest, he then preceded to trade fasano and ayodele and I cant remember when the ferguson trade went down.

I wouldnt be shocked at all to see carpenter or ellis wearing a different uniform monday morning.

Myth dispelled? Since when does what Jerry say mean thats what they intend to do. Usually it means the opposite. Before Sunday is over, I now expect to see at least one current player traded, a WR taken fairly high, and a QB taken somewhere. Why do I think this? Because Jerry said just the opposite!

I agree.

Ellis might not garner a great pick on his own but I'd think he'd have value in a move up scenario.

And I wouldn't be surprised to see Crayton moved either, if a receiving opportunity presents itself.

I think you might get a decent draft pick for him from a team like the Vikings.
