There's been no official announcement yet but as of this very moment, it looks like Brad Sham, Babe Laufenberg and Daryl Johnston will call three games of the four games on TV for Channel 11. The fourth game - Friday August 21 - belongs to Fox and will be a national telecast.
Meanwhile, Brad Sham, Babe Laufenberg and Daryl Johnston will call all the games for the Cowboys new radio home 105.3 The Fan and the rest of the team's radio network.
That means three of the four games are scheduled to be simulcast. Who knew the that all these years the Cowboys were striving to be the Dallas Stars.
Simulcasts cheat audiences because by their very nature TV and radio broadcasts need to be different. In case no one has noticed, one of them has a picture and needs less play-by-play and more analysis. Meanwhile the other has no picture and the play-by-play man needs to offer a lot more information. And something like the telestrator doesn't work too well on radio. Neither do graphics.
And by the way, Kristi Scales, the best darn sideline reporter in the business, apparaently didn't make the cut for the simulcasts. Mickey Spagnola will man the sidelines. I know its only the exhibition season and first stringers don't see much action but that's just plain silly.
