Cowboys-Rams Flashback: Dickerson's dominance
The Rams were responsible for perhaps the most humiliating playoff whuppin' in Cowboys history, a 20-0 beatdown in a 1985 NFC divisional game.
SMU's Eric Dickerson, who had to take a pay cut after getting picked in the first round, ran all over the Cowboys. His 248 rushing yards are still the NFL playoff record. Dickerson had five more yards than the whole Dallas team in a performance that QB Danny White called "pretty embarrassing."
"There were eight teams with the opportunity to go to the Super Bowl," RB Tony Dorsett said. "That should be motivation enough for every man on the field to want to give his best effort. All individuals, from my vantage point, didn't do that.
"We got our butts whipped. But that's football. That's the 1985 version of the Dallas Cowboys. There's always next year."
This debacle, however, was the final playoff game of Tom Landry's legendary career.
