Operation 557

Patrick Crayton knew Brad Johnson played on the 1998 Vikings team that set the NFL record for points scored. He asked Johnson, who started the first two games before getting hurt that year, exactly how many points Minnesota scored.

It was 556, Johnson said.

"Let's score 557," Crayton said.

Crayton laughed as the told a few reporters that Johnson responded with wide eyes. But Crayton ain't kidding about the goal.

"I was serious," he said. "Still am."

How about it, Tony Romo?

"Yeah, I think we need to throttle back on those statements a little bit," Romo said. "Those can come back to bite you. But I think we have a good offense."

It's good without a doubt. Is it great? We'll know for sure after trips to Miami and Chicago.

After last night that would be 35 points a game, I dont see it happening lol

Ah come on, it's actually only 34.13 points a game. That's completely doable, nothing like 35 points. :)

Why shoot for 557 why not just a good ole round number like 600

To hit that we'd have to score 37 points per game for the 15 games remaining.

I don't think we should get into a rountine and always score the same amount every game. Maybe every 3rd game we score 45 points, another third of the games we score say 30 (against the stronger teams) and the last third we can settle for anywhere between 32-34.

The only number I want the players thinking about is "6".
