Cricket's Chirps: 67 days of putting on Airs

BLOGGER'S NOTE: FB Deon "Cricket" Anderson might be the Cowboys' most entertaining character, so I figured it'd be fun to give the dude a diary. He'll discuss whatever is on his wacky mind in Cricket's Chirps, which will run every Saturday throughout the season.

I wouldn't call it a bet, because it's not a bet. We haven't shook hands or whatever, but myself and one of my teammates said we would go 67 days straight wearing different pairs of Air Jordans.

They can be different colors. Like the Air Jordan Is, but different colors. But every single day.

So far, this anonymous person [Marion Barber] has missed a day, but he made up for it the next day by wearing two pairs. I want to know from the public, is he disqualified for missing that one day?

He is the one who made up the rules! But he missed a day. That's all I'm saying. If you miss a day and the rules you set said you can't miss a day, are you disqualified? That's all I want to know.

I'm indifferent about the whole thing, because I'm confident in my ability to get the job done for 67 days. Hey, whatever it takes. But I just want the public's opinion on this topic.

I don't know where 67 days came from. I'm assuming it's because he has 67 pairs. That makes me want to come in at 70. Oh, and an extra one! And an extra one! And an extra one! You know, just that little icing on the cake.

We're on day seven, so two more months of straight Jordans. I am more than prepared.

More like putting on airs of being a good football team. How about worrying more about being prepared for games, and a little less about freakin' sneakers.

Hmmm... where to start, Cricket?

How about you quit freakin' worrying about your 67 pairs of shoes and stick your dumb nose in your playbook more? Or watch more film of the opposing team?

You DO know you're the moron that got Tony Romo injured, right?

I want this moron GONE. NOW.

One thing people seem to fail to get around here is that players prepare for the game in their own way. Whether it shows on game day or not will be the mark.

If players can't add an element of laxness in their non-football routine [I.E. what shoes they wear, what car they drive, or anything of the like], they will more than likely be over-prepared and just beat themselves up during the game.

Who gives a crap if it's a silly bet regarding shoes? Y'all need to unwind a little and let them have fun.

Well I can tell you if I came to work unprepared I would not be employed very long.

How about this, "The will to prepare to win is more important than the will to win".

Preparing for work is different than preparing for a game. Anybody who is preparing for a game should assume that what they see isn't going to be what they get.

While, a job, is more cut and dry because you have established norms and set tasks.

Games are all about the ability to adapt and get the upper hand. No amount of learning the playbook and watching film can give you that advantage.

We, as fans, want to manage the game on a larger scale. "All the players need to learn the playbook" or "We need more enthusiasm" or "Get T.O. the ball" are the things that we say.

But, in reality, the game is much smaller than that. For Deon Anderson, all he's gotta do is get in the way of somebody long enough for MB or Choice to skidaddle through.

How hard can that be?

This bet with how many pairs of Jordans he can wear won't get in the way of that. If it gives him some mojo, let him have it.

Deon is short on talent big on Heart! He does not fit this roster. Anyone watching the Texas game thinking what I'm thinking?

What seems to be lost in this discussion is the question of why any person needs 67 pairs of sneakers. Keep two or three pair and donate the rest to charity for cryin' out loud.

What happened to breakin' necks and cashin' checks? This team is too busy patting each other on the back, bloggin', and doggin' it on the field. Think they're more concerned with television facetime than winning a championship.. What a joke.

A bunch of PMS'ing going on around the board.

I'm sure that everyone on this board has had a rough period at work, after which they go home daily and think about work for the rest of the evening, every waking moment, thinking about how they can do better.

No downtime until you get the TPS reports filed, son. They pay you to do your job!

Even the scrubs on this team are not focused on football.
