BLOGGER'S NOTE: FB Deon "Cricket" Anderson might be the Cowboys' most entertaining character, so I figured it'd be fun to give the dude a diary. He'll discuss whatever is on his wacky mind in Cricket's Chirps, which will run every Saturday throughout the season.
Starting around 6:40 in the morning Thursday, I felt kind of strange. I didn't know what was up. Something was on the backburner, but I wasn't sure what it was all about.
So I'm going through the day, usual routine - walkthrough, meetings, practice. Even after practice, I'm like, 'Man, what's this feeling that I have?' Then it finally hit me: Today is the day that I find out what we're having.
I go and look at my phone. Lo and behold, I have a text that the doctor accidentally told my wife, Kerri, what we're having. We were supposed to find out an hour or two later, but she went to the doctor and found out during my meeting.
Well, we're having a boy. [The Andersons already have one son, 17-month-old Dasan.]
That means my house is going to be so fun - I mean, just wrestling non-stop. I can't wait until I scare the kids for Halloween. Not now, this is like when the kids get older.
It's just crazy. It's great. I'm ready. I'm excited.
Dasan is already about 6-5, 285 pounds of solid muscle. He benches Mack trucks for a living. I don't even know what he eats any more. He calls me Small One.
Naw, it's crazy. Like, I brought him around kids that are four or five months older than him, and they're not running around like he is or understanding stuff that he's understanding. So I think he's got all his intellectual traits from his mom.
He's ready to be a big brother. He knows where the baby's at. "Baaa-bee!" He's ready, man. I'm ready, too.
I want a starting five. You know, I want a golfer, an Olympic swimmer, a basketball player, a quarterback and a lawyer, just to take care of me when I'm 60.
We're starting a journey. It's a long road, but we will get there.
