Tim MacMahon E-mail News tips

If you want to read more about grumpy veterans, I strongly recommend Todd Archer's column about Greg Ellis and Terry Glenn. I'll give you a break on that stuff on this here blog with an update on a smiling youngster.

FB Deon "Cricket" Anderson beefed up to 263 pounds over the last couple months. He plans to play in the 240s and weighed in at 245 after yesterday's workout.

Then Cricket hit the buffet table. I saw him walking through the locker room with a goofy grin on his face and two to-go boxes in his hands. This clearly was a situation calling for some investigative journalism, so I got on the case.

The first to-go box contained a healthy lunch. The other one contained dessert. Yep, it was stuffed with cookies and cake.

I suspect strength and conditioning coach Joe Juraszek did not approve Cricket's dietary decisions yesterday.

So long as he's down to his playing weight, I doubt the Cowboys will be too concerned if he OCCASIONALLY wants to splurge on dessert. Wonder if the Cowboys must play for their lunch or, since Jerry has it catered, it's just part of the bennies of playing for the Dallas Cowboys.

Well, let's talk about this.

Roy probably loaded up on dessert, too.

And Ellis ... I guess he's having some home cooking.

These guys can get away with 3000-4000 calories a day. If he's working hard enough then he needs the carbs be it pasta or cake. Only problem is that a lot of deserts have too much fat in them. He doesn't need a lot more fat than any other adult.

Yeah I imagine the occassion splurge won't be an issue. Not bad being down to 245, already, if he wanted to play at 240.

I would imagine Cowboys' management approved the cookies and cakes, otherwise, why were they there?

It is kind of lame how they have these guys under such a microscope. A blog post about how much dessert they're having? I mean seriously.
