including the aforementioned Brock Marion who would go on to become a Pro Bowler.

This is the guy that they said looked like Dexter Coakley? Small but big...

I like this guy.

I agree.

I take what he says with a grain of salt.

“Every once in a while a player comes along who causes you to think `this one is different; this one is going to be special. I felt that way about Quincy the first time I ever sat down and talked to him one-on-one.”

Dave Campo on LaVonya Quintelle “Quincy” Carter, 2001.
Well you can't accuse him of lying. I mean Quincy was definitely different...and he was special...Just not in a good way.

I wonder if there's anything worthwhile in Campo's comments/assessments on a player, in all honesty...This is not a coach with a great track record for player assessment, IMHO...I'm not at all convinced that he would know a good DB if he saw one
He may not have been much as a head coach, but he is a darn good DB coach and I trust his evaluation of DB's.

DeAngelo Smith sounds a lot more like Brock Marion than any of the other safeties we've had before.

Brock Marion was a 5-11 1/2 180 4.63 CB (Ourlad's 1993) that made an excellent FS for the Cowboys.
If he is anything like brock as a safety, we will have the steal of the draft.

Well...to be fair i guess one could argue that Q was different and special...just not in a positive way.;)

Campo developed Kevin Smith, Darren Woodson, Larry Smith, Roy Williams, Rashean Mathis, and a whole slew of others. You don't know what the hell youre talking about.

Who is Larry SMITH? And Rashean Mathis was a player before Campo even got to the Jags. Campo was (is?) a good position coach, but it is his ability to evaluate talent that is in question here IMO. He's bombed on his fair share of highly touted players as well (especially the ones he personally handpicked like Lattimore, Goodrich, Ross, Dixon, etc).
