DMN Blog: Dan Reeves at practice

Please. By that line of thinking the New England Patriots are only being staffed by a fifth rounder at QB.

And also by that line of thinking, Bobby Carpenter > Romo.

Are you seriously arguing that we lack talent on offense?

That was not my intention. I was just saying that we spend a lot of resources on the defense yet they have not produced as well as I would like. I do not consider Wade to be some precious resource, as if he's some sort of defensive guru. I think he's a good defensive coordinator, but can be replaced if need be. And probably will be, after this season. (Unless we win the SB, and I still have my fingers crossed for that)

Honestly, we need a full-time DC more than we need Dan Reeves.

Jason Garrett is the highest paid Offensive Coordinator in the league, so why would he need someone like Reeves to hold his hand?

The defenses inability to create turnovers is still an enormous achilles heel for this team. We are dead last in the NFL, tied with the Skins.

Especially since the offense has improved so much on giveaways.

We've spent a lot of resources on offense, too. There are only two sides of the ball, after all. It's not like Romo and Witten and Roy Williams and Bigg are being paid chicken feed. And it's just dumb to blame Wade (or whichever coach it was) because a first round pick like Bobby Carpenter can't play.

But funny, I feel the same way about Garrett as you do about Wade. Plenty of other OCs could do the same work with Romo, Witten, Gurode, Bigg, Colombo, Barber, Felix, and Miles.

It would be interesting if NFL GMs had a draft of offensive coordinators and defensive coordinators around the league to see if Wade or Garrett were chosen first.

Um, he's the head coach. He should have the say, and who cares if Garrett doesn't like it?

It sounds like you are on board with Jerry's preference for dual head coaches.

I am on board w/ a person doing what you pay them to do. If the person isn't doing that then yes you need to look outside and bring in some help, but you never should keep 2 people in the same role and personally I feel that is exactly what Wade was wanting from DR when this was all going down.

I am no huge fan of JG, please dont get me wrong, but I am a huge proponent for anyone to have the full opportunity to sink or swim w/o being distracted or maybe even threatened by someone who has been asked to come in and oversee.

JG is also the assistant coach. He probably has more say than most OC's around the league, but I feel he never presses that part of his position. I honestly feel the staff works pretty well w/ each other.
