I think Jason Garrett's feelings about Wade were pretty much out in the open after the Capers fiasco last year. I can't imagine Josh McDaniels going to Robert Kraft saying "Listen, just between you and me, I think Bill Belichick needs some help running his defense. I have an old coaching buddy who might be able to help. Why don't you run it by Belichick and see if he's open to someone else "helping" him run his defense that he's ran successfully for 30 years in the NFL." That takes some chutzpah for a 1st year coordinator to make that kind of power move.

Exactly. That's yet another reason I get the idea that he feels way too entitled. Along with getting to pick the OL coach and maybe even the DB coach over what the head coach wanted.

And you can just see what you outlined going through RJ's head. Whodathunk that he should've been worried about keeping his own side of the ball from burning down?

BTW, this is also why I've suspected for a long time that there was at least a small rift in the coaching staff, between "Wade's guys" (Stewart, maybe Grantham, maybe Herring) and "Garrett's guys" (Houck, John, and Campo).

Not a good situation.

And of course it all goes back to Jerry.

Yep I actually agree with all that. I am not sure which faction is right wades or garretts guys.

If you put a gun to my head I would kick out wade and all his guys and make garrett the coach and fill out the rest of the staff.

but the reality is any good gm or head guy would see this and get rid of everyone and go hire a new coach and let him fill out his own staff.

Then cut owens.

Put roy williams (s), gregg ellis, carpenter on notice and go forward.

circus over, questions over, drama over.

Back to football.

I wish holmgren would coach now. He might even get a guy like mariucci to come and be his qb coach and who knows maybe even a gruden.

Now I am not a fan of gruden or mariucci, but as assitants that is alot of good experience and they all love mike and would respect him and listen to him.

Plus that would give mike allies and he could concentrate on the overall team.

Please dont flame me for this, I am just wishing, I know this isnt happening this year.

Exactly, theebs... I don't even have a problem with taking a chance on a highly-regarded young guy. The problem IMO comes when you start acting like he's the head coach ahead of the head coach. That is absolute lunacy.

It's fine to promote a promising young guy, but if I were Jerry I'd say "Look RJ, I love you like a son and I think the world of you, but for now you're still working for the head coach and what he says goes. Wade's coached in this league for three decades and you've coached in it three years. Keep doing a great job and someday you can be in his position. But not yet."

Instead, it looks to me like he thought RJ as a great HC was a foregone conclusion and started planning for it a year too early.

I don't think that Houck is a Garrett or Wade guy. Houck coached with Wade before... Houck coached for Jerry Jones as well. Houck likes to run the ball and his players moving forward. Wade likes to do the same thing...

Garrett made Houck look incredibly bad this year...

So did the players. I don't think Garrett and Houck's philosphies meshed, but the players did not play well. The line looking like a mess went way beyond offensive scheme.

Garret didn't do some things well. I can't tell whether Houck failed or whether his players really were that bad.
