Kick it: Buehler ready to compete with Folk

Nick Folk has missed six of his last nine field goal attempts. That has opened the door for David Buehler.

Let the competition begin.

"I thrive off competition, that's what I'm looking forward to most,'' Buehler said before Tuesday's practice.

"Nick is a great field goal kicker. I look up to him, I've learned a lot from him mentally and physically about kicking. He's a mentor of mine. I get to compete against him and I'm looking forward to it.

Buehler hasn't kicked a field goal in competition since the first pre-season game when he nailed a 39-yarder agaisnt Oakland.

"Nick is the field goal kicker as of now,'' Buehler said. "It's his job to lose.

"But I'm going to go out there and push him and compete.''

DeMarcus Ware wants to play

DeMarcus Ware wants to play Saturday vs. New Orleans. Whether he is cleared is another story.

Ware said he will undergo more X rays and have another MRI Wednesday but he has passed all of the tests since suffering a neck injury Sunday vs. San Diego. He will not practice but he said he would be able to play against the Saints even if he didn't practice this week.

In the end, however, he will listen to the medical staff.

"If they tell me not to play, I won't," Ware said, "because the doctors, they know more than I do. Sometimes you can feel good but maybe just that next impact you can make it even worse than it is."

Ware has received treatment the last two days but just finished lifting weights before talking to a handful of reporters. Ware said he felt better today than he did after suffering a sprained neck at Tampa Bay in the season opener. He missed only a short amount of playing time in that game.

"To be honest I feel 100 percent better than [Monday] and better than after the game," Ware said. "I feel a lot better. A lot of the strength in my neck is back, so I'm happy right now."

So glad that Ware is alright and I love the fight in the guy. I love that he wants to play. I don't really care what anyone thinks, or says, about heart and all that when it comes to this team, it's all opinion and speculation anyway, but things like this show me that a guy like DWare should never have their heart, their passion, their will to win brought into question.

I love this guy.

I do not see the down side in letting Buehler attempt FG's. Folk should be inactive so we can dress another DEF/ST player. If Buehler misses he's par for the course. If I'm Wade, I go for it on every fourth down between 25 - 35 yard line.

theebs said this in another thread that if Ware plays and that cant get you to play inspired football than nothing can and I agree.

If Demarcus trots out there after what happened last week than we better not lay down.

That is the only reason I think the Saints are going to kick us Saturday. Because I think Dallas has lost all confidence and will mail the season in for good this Saturday.

I know what you mean, but with that, who cares if he's our franchise?

If he were to get seriously hurt with an injury like that, we're likely talking paralysis. I could care less about the franchise when it comes to matters like that. I'm just glad he's ok.

I'm in favor of letting Folk try field goals... I'm however NOT in favor of allowing D-Ware back on the field, he needs to sit at least one game if not the rest of the year.

It's a strained neck. Enough of the over reaction. He did the same thing against Tampa and returned to the game.

Only people who know what is right for Ware is the doctors who treated him and Ware himself. If they have cleared him and he feels he can go then do it.

Haha, heard the audio of Roy--said Buehler can’t kick, said he can only kick deep.

Buehler cant kick!? Blasphemy! I nailed a 56 yarder with him in Madden today! :D

Ware is great, but he should rest imho. The guy I am really impressed with is Brian Orakpo out of Texas and the rookie season he is having in Washington. That guy is freakishly good.

I swear guys are acting like he broke his neck lol. If he's cleared to play let him. He didn't break his neck. He sprained it. And sprained it in a rare incident. I think the whole stop of play and carry him out on a stretcher sort of scared folks around here. It scared me as well but it was for precautionary reasons.

Agreed. If the docs say he is good then let him play. If they say he should sit, then so be it.
