Pittsburgh cornerback Deshea Townsend's tongue-in-cheek take on the game's deciding play: "It was a great play call by them."

Townsend said he knew that the Cowboys would try to get the ball to Witten on a curl when they lined up in the trips formation. So did defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau, who made a play call with that specific route in mind.

"It was a route that they had been running all night," Townsend said. "Coach LeBeau made a great call, and it worked out for us."

Townsend sarcastically complimented Romo for making a great throw. "Right at eye level," he said.

The Steelers definitely didn't want to hear any talk about Witten slipping while coming out of his break.

"Deshea just ran the route for the receiver," OLB James Harrison said.

We don't deserve it, but I'd like nothing better than another shot at those arrogant jerks.

If Townsend knew what play was coming, why wasn't he in front of Witten?

It looked like he was in position, considering Witten blew his assignment.

Classy. I love how they fail to acknowledge that they were thoroughly whipped in their house, playing 'their type of football', to the extent that the 'most loyal fans in the world' were booing them consistently by the third quarter.

predictability is meaningless.

execution is everything.

genius play calling is for college. pro teams don't get surprised much. run the play perfectly and you win.

Possibly they did suspect that route. It still was not executed properly. For him to have jumped the route then he would have had to be in front of Witten. They likely were in the right area looking for it. If so then Garrett and Romo need to take home a lesson.

He doesn't have to be in 'front' of Witten to know the play is coming... It's called playing off so Romo will make the throw instead of seeing Townsend cover Witten and put the ball back in his hand and run or throw to somebody else...

Two of the best defenses in the league were out on the field today. And the common denominator of both defenses is creativity.

If we don't need Garrett, then why even pay him?

If he's behind Witten and Witten runs the route Romo thought he was going to run, Townsend would have to go through Witten to get the ball. Witten is much bigger than Townsend and could easily shield him off to catch the ball. If Townsend had complete confidence that he knew the play, he would have jumped the route, not caught it behind Witten. He might have "known" the play, but he certainly played it safe in case we ran something different.
