There seems to be a sense of excitement since Jerry Jones said the club has considered starting Felix Jones at running back heading into next season.

Starting Jones makes sense. It should give him a few more carries. But if you believe Marion Barber will disappear from the equation you're kidding yourself.

I know it's popular to argue that Tashard Choice should get more carries than Barber. More and more fans began to argue that as the season went on. But here are the numbers from the Cowboys final five games of the regular season:

Marion Barber _ 77 carries for 299 yards and three touchdowns
Felix Jones _ 55 carries for 264 yards and one touchdown

If Jones starts, flips the equation. He'll be the one getting 77 carries in five games while Barber gets 55 and Choice is the odd back out.

Starting doesn't mean as much with a three back rotation. I have no problem with Felix starting and Barber getting less carries, but make sure we use Barber in his closer role. With fresh legs, he'll return to the weapon we all know and love. Felix may not be a 25-carry back, but he doesn't have to be. Give him the bulk of the load early and often to set the tone. Also, we need to find more ways to get Choice involved, other than the Razorback. Maybe use him in the passing game more. He's too good to ignore. All in all, three talented backs is a great problem to have.

Barber needs to go back to the closer role. If there's a game where one of the backs doesn't have "it" then give Choice more carries.

I wonder why he didn't look at postseason games?

Felix Jones: 30 for 217
Tashard Choice: 15 for 43
Marion Barber: 11 for 18

Because it would have ruined his theory.

And then he wouldn't be able to find anything else to write about.

If people were not quick to dismiss players this site would have far fewer people with allot less to talk about. :laugh2:

Marion is done as our starter. I would rather have Choice or Jones starting. Marion got his contract that many of us didn't think he should get. He should be happy with that.

I wonder why you decided to overlook the postseason games?

Felix Jones: 30 Carries, 217 Yards
Tashard Choice: 15 Carries, 43 Yards
Marion Barber: 11 Carries, 18 Yards

I seem to remember a few years ago, Wade Phillips and Jason Garrett put Barber in the featured role in the playoff game against the Giants after he played behind Julius all year.

If that is any indication, I would guess that the 2009-10 Postseason was a glimpse into the thoughts of the coaching staff heading into 2010.

That is a good point, thought, about the 2007 playoffs. I forgot that it was a big deal that we started Barber that game after Julius started all year.

Stats are overrated.

I need to see what kind of car each one is driving these days. :)

How can Felix have those numbers? Chris Johnson is 10 times the back that Felix is and he only has 11 career playoff carries for 72 yards.

How the hell can you say that? We have yet to see Felix as the featured back.

Unless ofcourse you're kidding and I'm too stupid to figure it out.

:lmao2: And the debate continues. Personally, I'm happy we have Felix. It doesn't matter who is "better." I remember how Cowboys fans always said Barry was better than Emmitt. Give me Emmitt anyday. You can have your wow. I'll take the wins.

there was a stat somewhere that the cowboys are a terrible starting team. They had the fewest points to start the game. or the fewest touchdowns on opening drives.

I have to find it. Well it pointed that Barber was the starting RB and we had more 3 and outs when he was starting the series.

If any one can remember or find it. thanks.

If i am wrong, i applogize now.
