Eagles are aware of DeMarcus Ware's sack run

DeMarcus Ware needs three sacks for the single-season sack record held by Michael Strahan, but he's never had more than 1.5 sacks in a game in seven tries against Philadelphia.

But the Eagles offensive linemen are aware of what the Pro Bowl linebacker needs.

"I don't think you have to talk about it as much as it is you are aware of it," Philly coach Andy Reid said. "You are aware of how good he is and you're aware that you need to make sure you bring you're A-game and play well against him and do certain things technique-wise and be very disciplined. I'm sure they've heard about the sack record."

When Ware is "on" he is unstoppable. That happens maybe once every four games or so. Hopefully, he's due. If I had to choose between a win and Ware getting the record, I'd choose a win. That being said, it would be nice to get both on Sunday.

Id like him to get the record with his record setting sack forcing a fumble that Dallas picks up and rumbles into the end zone for the decisive score.

The Eagles have never seen this defense playing at this level, ever.

The coverage is much better, tight man.

The pressure is unreal.

Ware is using his hands and moves better than he ever has and he has excellent coverage on the backend.

They have no idea what's coming.

Eagles are going to design a few plays specifically to catch Ware being aggressive, I'd watch slip screens to his side. I'm sure he is aware of this as well, I'm glad we have such a talented guy with a good football IQ.

The Eagles will not be too upset to lose if they keep Ware away from the record books. I said earlier that they'd rather lose than give it up to him, but now that they know they can win to keep us out of the playoffs, they'd probably rather that.

All excellent points.

I rewatched the earlier matchup against the Eagles from week 2 of the season (it was on NFL Network last night), and I agree about how different the defense looks.

That defense was playing 10 yards off the receiver, and Ware and Ratliff didn't look as crisp in their technique. Ware missed 2 or 3 sacks on McNabb that he would have easily today. Ditto for Ratliff, who also missed about 3 sacks because of the angles he was taking on McNabb.

The d-line looks so much more aggressive these days, and something has changed with Ware. His technique has improved, and he takes better angles at the QB now. He now anticipates where the QB will move to when he recognizes pressure, instead of going to the spot where the QB is standing.

I rewatched the first Eagles v. Cowboys game the other day and noticed that when Ware and Spencer were on the field at the same time they often switched sides before the snap. What was the matchup they were trying to get? Any ideas?

Let them over compensate for Ware and let their game lapse somewhere else... as long as we get a win.... I dont care about Ware record.

We and Ware need a big game from Ellis. If that happens, I say both things happen, we win and Ware gets his record.
