Expectations for Martellus Bennett much bigger this season

Martellus Bennett believes that he forms half of the NFL's best tight end tandem. He won't get an argument from the guy who signs his paychecks.
The key to Bennett's claim being true, of course, is his development. Jason Witten is a perennial Pro Bowler. Bennett has that type of potential.
Bennett met expectations as a rookie, when he blocked well and caught 20 passes for 283 yards and four touchdowns. The expectations are much higher for him entering his second season, when the Cowboys plan to use two-tight end packages more often to feature "Rice and Beans," as Marty B calls the TE tandem.
In Jerry's eyes, Bennett has earned a much bigger role.
"He had about as impressive a practice as you could have in this type of a situation," Jerry said of Bennett's performance in a recent OTA workout. "He made plays, he made difficult plays, but he made plays that utilize his advantages, which is his size, his leaping ability and his ability to catch the ball and really his speed.
"When you look and factor in the way we're going to move the ball this year, then he's got to be a big consideration, and he will be if he continues this work. What you're seeing out here ... you're seeing a really focused Martellus Bennett."
Well, I actually saw twice that Bennett had to be told where to line up during yesterday's workout, a reminder that he's still very much a work in progress. But there's no question that he has the ability to be an impact player.
