Felix Jones return went fine, for the most part

Felix Jones' surgically repaired toe didn't give him any trouble during yesterday's opening workout of OTAs.

But he did have one minor problem with his feet. Wade Phillips explained that the plates put in Jones' shoes apparently got pretty darn hot.

"He said it felt like his feet were burning," Phillips said.

As far as Jones' performance goes, they didn't do anything too interesting with him in the passing game. He did have one drop on a short pass across the middle. He looked fine running and cutting.

I know Felix runs fast... but his speed actually heated up the metal. :laugh2:

Now his nickname has got to be "Hotwheels".

 For sure, I can't wait to see him get back on the field. He brings something at running back we haven't seen in awhile.

He brings something we desperately needed last year after he went out. He scares the crap out of defenses. Not just running the ball either... Felix catching screens and dumpoffs has the potential to cripple a defense.

His instincts and vision are almost more dangerous than his speed and quickness. You add all of that together and you have a terrific player who is dynamite in the open field.

I can't wait.

The way you describe him sounds like a Brian Westbrook type, except I think Felix is faster than Westbrook, at least watching him run away from the Eagles on that kickoff return last season.

If Felix can be a Westbrook type, minus all the injuries, I'd be so thrilled I'd hardly be able to stand it.

I'm as high as anyone on Felix, but lets not put him in Canton just yet.

He needs to prove he can stay healthy, have consistent hands, not make mental mistakes.

That being said, I feel he is going to be our X factor next year.

I can't wait, either. I don't care if he's only played 6 games. I've seen plenty of him in the SEC and at Dallas. I'm stocking up on Felix Jones' stock. I'm buying it by the boat load.

You had a great post.

Felix Jones is the most explosive weapon the Cowboy have. He's a running back/weapon. He can line up in the slot, WR, and running back. He's a Marshall Faulk type of player. You could build your offense around him if you wanted to do so.

Felix Jones is a threat to take it to the house by land or air. He's a tough inside runner who is a threat to explode or break off a long run from the inside. He's an explosive threat on both edges. He's a threat to take it to the house on simple circle routes, flairs, or screens. Every time he touches the ball, he's a threat to go the distance. He can take a kickoff 98 yards for a TD. He could carry the load if you wanted him to do it.

Felix can make the linebacker miss and set the safety up at the same time and dust him, too. (see the Green Bay long TD).

Feed Felix the rock!

12-15 carries per game
3-5 passes per game
some kickoffs

The campaign continues.

If he can be a Westbrook-type without the injuries, you'd be talking about having pretty much the best RB in the NFL. A healthy Westbrook is just plain sick.

Yep. One of the most underrated players in the game today. Andy Reid and Donny need to be thanking their lucky stars he's been in their backfield.

Remember a few years ago when Reid and company were yanking Westbrooks chain when his rookie contract was running out? Those morons almost lost him because they were pinching pennies and so worried about McFlabs contract. To me Westbrook has always been more important then mcFlab but those dumbies never see it.
