Final breakdown of the Cowboys' penalties

By now, we all know the Cowboys led the NFL with 119 penalties for a total of 952 yards. Dreadful. Anyway, I figured you all would like a look at the breakdown of penalty by unit. Not surprisingly, the offense led the way.

Offensive penalties: 64 (NFL rank: 1st)
Yardage: 462

Defensive penalties: 40 (NFL rank: 3rd)
Yardage: 328

Special teams penalties: 15 (NFL rank: T-13th)
Yardage: 162

Overall totals: 119 (NFL rank: 1st)
Yardage: 952 (Only Green Bay had more with 984 penalty yards on 110 flags)

Just who exactly was the biggest culprit? If you think it's a big, burly left tackle, you might be on to something.

The offensive numbers would come down dramatically if you took out Flozell Adams' totals. He was called for nine false starts (second most in the NFL) and three holding penalties. That's 12 total for 75 yards. Marc Colombo was also guilty of six false starts, which tied for fifth most, for another 30 yards.

If we're calling out everybody, let's take Jason Witten to task, too. He had four false start penalties. Officials walked off three holding penalties on Leonard Davis. Tony Romo was called for four intentional grounding calls.

The Cowboys' status as No. 1 in defensive penalties is somewhat surprising, because they didn't have that many pass interference calls. Terence Newman, who played through pain most of the year, had two, as did Anthony Henry.

The Cowboys really got screwed up with defensive offside calls. It's hard to find an official breakdown, but we know that DeMarcus Ware, Greg Ellis and Tank Johnson all were called for being offside at various points.

And this equals no coaching changes, LAUGHABLE!

Wade should start charging guys for stupid penalties.

We got a few penalties for simply lining up off-sides!

Flo has go to go (if his cap hit is too big, than just sit him down)....his penalties are dumb for the most part and that hearing problem is no excuse. If anything his hearing problem should delay him getting off not beating the snap.

and it happened exacty the same under disiplinarian FatParcells. Stop pointing the finger at the coach here and start pointing at our dumb ***** players.

Lack of discipline. Period, end of story.
