Folk shocked by selection

As I walked up to Nick Folk in the locker room this morning, he was messing with his iPhone. A teammate asked him a couple minutes earlier if he was the first rookie kicker to go to the Pro Bowl. He had to Google "Pro Bowl Rookie Kicker" to try and find out.
Clearly, he wasn't prepared for the moment. In fact, despite being told by his buddies that he was leading fan voting at his position, Folk thought the idea that he'd be in Hawaii in February, without paying for a trip himself, was a pipe dream.
"That was the last thing on my mind when I was drafted," Folk said. "The first thing was trying to make the team. And once that happened, it was trying to help the team win. So it’s been the last thing on my mind since the beginning of camp, and it’s been far from it ever since then and up until yesterday.
"It’s still the last game of the year, so I don’t have to worry about it until we’re done here."
Folk got word, like the 10 other Cowboys headed for Hawaii, from Wade Phillips at Tuesday's practice.
But he knows he probably really became one was Oct. 8. That was the night Folk hit back-to-back 53-yarders to cap the Cowboys' stunning come-from-behinder in Buffalo.
"I think that’s probably how it was, just because it was a Monday night game and I had to do it twice," Folk said. "That was the kick that kind of sent me through. It’s good, the Cowboys are getting a lot of recognition, hopefully we’ll all have fun and hopefully we’ll win five more games before that."
Hopefully, too, by the time he gets there he'll be able to figure out if he's the first rookie kicker to get to the Pro Bowl. We'll try to help him out here tonight.
