Cornerbacks Terence Newman and Courtney Brown took a trip to Mat McBriar's homeland and found out firsthand that Australian Rules Football players can do a lot more than boot the ball.

During a made-for-the-media workout with one of the teams, Newman learned that those oblong balls can be pretty tough to catch. He also discovered that some of those Aussie dudes are pretty darn good athletes.

McBriar, by the way, readily acknowledges that he wasn't a great Australian Rules Football player. Anybody who has seen him attempt to make a tackle knows that he doesn't exactly have elite speed and quickness. Other than being a Pro Bowl-caliber punter, McBriar's athletic prowess is limited to the golf course.

I find it curious that nobody commented on the fact that Two DBs went with a Punter on a trip? I bet Hos is throwing up right now :D

But mainly I am more and more encouraged to see how the team seems to be jelling. All this off the field friendships go a long way, IMO during tough times for the team.

And hearing Greg Ellis on ESPN 103.3 reminded me more of why it was a good thing Jerry got rid of him and TO etc.
