The good news for the Cowboys is that Felix Jones (knee) and Roy Williams (ribs) are expected to practice Wednesday but the bad news is Gerald Sensabaugh (thumb) won't.

Coach Wade Phillips said they will hold Sensabaugh out of the practice to give his thumb more time to heal, but he would not rule him out of playing Sunday against Atlanta. Sensabaugh will have the thumb X-rayed again this week and if he does practice and play, then he would wear a cast.

Sensabaugh has hopes of playing but it might be a case where he would need another week.

He's taping a Papa John's pizza commercial.

Don't worry. He'll be watching film of the Falcons, sorting the uniforms and going over the injury reports with the trainers later today.

Actually, I think he's on Jay Leno sometime this week.

Thanks - I was worried there for a minute.

Roy, Felix Practicing Today
rphillips at 10/19/2009 11:30 AM CDT

The Cowboys are back to work at Valley Ranch after their weekend off, and wide receiver Roy Williams (ribs) and running back Felix Jones (knee) are practicing today.

Safety Gerald Sensabaugh (thumb) is not practicing. He will have his surgically-repaired thumb re-examined Tuesday and is hopeful of playing against Atlanta, but it's uncertain how much he'll practice this week.

IRVING -- The Cowboys will conduct a 90 minute practice Monday, and wide receiver Roy Williams (ribs), running back Felix Jones (knee) are expected to participate some. Safety Gerald Sensabaugh (thumb) won't go Monday. Sensabaugh will undergo more X-rays on his broken thumb, but Phillips didn't rule him out for Sunday's game vs. Atlanta.

Roy Williams, Felix Jones on field

Not only will Roy Williams and Felix Jones practice Wednesday but they are on the field today.

The players are in jerseys and helmets today as they get an extra day for Atlanta.

This is Jones' first practice since spraining his knee vs. Carolina on Sept. 28 and Williams' first practice since injuring his ribs against Denver on Oct. 4.

my gosh Gonzo is a matchup nightmare: too big for CB's, and too fast for LB's. A very big, good cover safety like Sensabaugh would be the only real hope: and he's out. So............better get to Ryan this week or it won't be pretty.

He's not that big but he can cover better than any safety Dallas has.

My money is on Sensabaugh playing...

Well, it is just a thumb. It isn't like the Cowboys secondary needs hands. They don't intercept the ball anyway.

To boot, Hamlin acts like he doesn't even have arms. Given that he body tackles everyone that comes his way...and whiffs routinely.

oh boy...hamlin and watkins vs. gonzales...

I get the feeling this game could turn out like that Saints one a little while ago, where the FB got something like 3 tds on us.

What's bad is that a radio host questioned Jerry about it last week, and it kinda fell on deaf ears. Jerry claimed that there are a lot of good things that Hamlin does that we don't see during the game. At the expense of what? Tackling??

With regards to Sensabaugh...just cut it off!

Felix Jones practices; game status still unknown
October 19, 2009, 2:16 PM

By: Tim MacMahon

IRVING - Dallas Cowboys running back Felix Jones returned to practice Monday, but he isn't ready to declare himself available for Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Jones, who hadn't practiced since spraining the posterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in the Sept. 28 win over the Carolina Panthers, said he ran "a few plays here and there" Monday. He wore a bulky black plastic knee brace during the workout and had a large ice wrap on the knee as he excited the team's facility.

"Everything feels all right," Jones said. "It feels good. I'm still trying to get it better, working on it, getting treatment and everything. So far, so good."

Jones has a career average of 9.4 yards per carry, but he's been inactive for 12 of 21 games due to hamstring, toe and knee injuries. He hopes to play Sunday against the Falcons, but he won't know until later in the week whether that's a realistic scenario.

"You know what? I can tell you this: I feel like today was a good day and hopefully tomorrow will be better," Jones said.
