So much for having seven Cowboys in the Pro Bowl with Terence Newman's addition earlier in the day.

Center Andre Gurode has pulled out of the Pro Bowl with a knee injury that will require clean-up surgery, and he will be replaced by New Orleans'

Jonathan Goodwin, provided the Saints don't make it to the Super Bowl.
Gurode was voted as the NFC starter and would have made his fourth-straight trip to the all-star game.

Cleanup surgery or no, I don't blame Gurode for pulling out. Who cares about the Pro Bowl anyway? It can help a guy like Miles Austin as far as negotiations, but veterans like Gurode don't care.

Unfortunately I think that what you said is pretty close to the truth.

I really don't know why anyone one even cares about the probowl. Its more boring than pre-season scrimages IMO. But I guess some like it, to each his own.

Just stop with the stupid agenda ****.

What agenda? She asked who cares and I gave her the name of a player that vented his frustations of not going on twitter.

The Pro Bowl is an absolute Joke.

Not to mention...

Playing it a week BEFORE the Super Bowl?!

That is just SOOOOO ********.

So lets have even MORE guys skip it than usual.

Brilliant.

The Pro-Bowl has really outlived its usefulness and attraction. Prior to the mid 80s, it was nice to see guys play together that wouldn't normally get a chance and the extra money was nice as well as the opportunity to take your family to Hawaii. After that the money was no longer a draw as the players salaries went through the roof and you started to see more and more guys drop out with relatively minor injuries.

Now no one cares about the game, guys are going half speed or just goofing around at times. The money is not a draw and the only thing going for it was taking your family to Hawaii. I think moving it to Miami and prior to the SB is the first step towards eliminating it altogether. Goodell can claim the poor attendance and ratings as the main reason to drop it.

I would like to see some sort of team nominated so that the players still get rewarded with the recognition besides just the AP All-Pro team. Pro-Bowls do count for the players and it does mean something when their contract is up so the NFL needs to come up with some way of recognizing outstanding players at each position that isn't completely dependent on mediots.

I would get rid of fan voting though but that's not likely to happen. The league likes it when the fans are involved.

They should just vote "All-NFL Team 2010" or even AFC and NFC and just let the Pro Bowl die. Nobody cares anyhow. They created it to make money and it fails terribly!

Let it die.

I knew something was wrong with Dre, he gave up way to much pressure in the middle this season. God I hope we draft a Center in the 1st 3 rounds..:pray:

Blowing up defenseless kickers in glorified scrimmages is nothing to be proud of.

Exactly...I could not agree more.

I hope it just goes away. Nothing more than a dismal reminder that football season is over. It's that bad.

That's four in a row for him. Yet you never really see much praise for him in Cowboy-land. Underrated or overrated?
