Inquiring minds want to know: Have the Cowboys played their last SNF game of the season?

This question has been posed several times in the last 48 hours. That's because the Cowboys next scheduled Sunday Night appearance on NBC, is Dec. 27 against the awful Commanders. Washington could be 2-12 by then. Would NBC and the NFL do the unthinkable and have the Cowboys-Commanders dumped flexed back to Sunday afternoon.
My friends, I believe the the answer is a simple no, no, no, and no.
Let's examine:
The Cowboys have played two games this season on SNF. Those two games vs the Giants (No. 1) and the Eagles (No. 2) rank as the two most watched SNF games of the season. Cowboys-Browns would be acceptable to NBC, let alone a bonafide NFC East match-up.
There may be no game to flex in. Baltimore-Pittsburgh appears a prime candidate however, there would be the simple matter of CBS with which to contend. CBS has the right to protect a certain number of games from NBC's prime time grasp. You think CBS is going to give up that game for nothing in return? If Dallas-Washington is flexed out of SNF, it goes to Fox. And Baltimore, by the way, is currently a .500 team.
Other candidates would be NY Jets, another .500 team, at Indianapolis or Denver at Philadelphia, also both CBS games. If the Colts are undefeated, this might have the best shot at replacing a Cowboys game.
But in the end, the old NFL TV axiom will prevail: When in doubt go with the Cowboys.
