Tashard Choice admitted it was hard watching the Super Bowl knowing the Cowboys beat New Orleans in the regular season but it also gave him hope.

Last week I had the chance to ask a ton of people if they felt the Cowboys could be in Super Bowl XLV on our Webcasts on our site and northtexassuperbowl.com. Troy Aikman said yes. Emmitt Smith said yes. Roger Staubach said yes. Leon Lett said yes. So did Too Tall Jones.

Now, maybe they were just being polite, but I think that's what they believe.

Except for 2004, the Cowboys have beaten or were in position to beat a Super Bowl participant over the last seven seasons.

In 2003, they beat Carolina. In 2005, they lost 13-10 at Seattle on a Drew Bledsoe interception. In 2006, they beat then-undefeated Indianapolis. In 2007, they beat the New York Giants twice. In 2008, they let a late lead slip at Pittsburgh on a Tony Romo interception. In 2009, they beat then-undefeated New Orleans.

So, yes, close. But it's not like the Cowboys are unlike any other team in the NFC. There are more than a few teams that think they're close to doing what New Orleans did last Sunday.

Look at the conference: New Orleans, Green Bay, Cowboys, Eagles, Giants, Minnesota (if Brett Favre returns), Atlanta (a return to health would help), Carolina got hot at the end of the year, Arizona has to see if Matt Leinart can play but if he can then the Cardinals could be there.

There can be cases made for all of those teams going into 2010.

I asked several Cowboys at the Pro Bowl if they felt close and they all said yes. But they added the right message: 2009 does not carry over to 2010. That's a good start but it doesn't mean a good finish.

Giants, Carolina, and AZ without Warner?
I don't think so.

No, because the same problems still exist and some coaches have got to go. We are becoming Next Years Champs and its pissing me off. Get some new coaches in, get some better players and get some players who can step in and not fall apart because of injuries.

I hate when there is an injury on our offensive line, it collaspses, as if there is no urgency to get these guys ready. I want to know that if Newman goes down Scandrick is ready to take his job.

I want Kitna ready and if not Kitna get McGee ready. If the game is a mop up, i want McGee in, if you cant win the game, I want McGee in.

Why are we settling for "next years champs," when the Giants, Saints and the Steelers can get in with less talent?

I think in the early 90's in about a four week span, Buffalo beat Dallas, the Giants, and Skins - all the teams that had beaten them in their Super Bowl shutout. That doesn't equal one SB. Winning in the playoffs is a whole different kind of cat.

Go back to the Giants board.
