DMN Blog: How Hurd has improved

The feeling around these parts now is that Hurd can help the Cowboys' offense last season.

He is so good, he can actually help last years team. That is pretty impressive. Sam must be having one heck of a camp.

I excited about Sam Hurd. He had a touchdown called back at Arizona last year. I didn't know he was that young. Wow! He is an excellent young prospect, and we didn't draft him. Just another young player that Parcells and Jerry Jones brought in. There is no denying his potential. He has some great attributes for a WR.

You know, we've always had a propensity to overrate our late round/udfa prospects.

Romo has us all in a tizzy.

I'm excited about the possibilities of both Austin and Hurd, but I wouldn't expect either to become a big time player.

If he comes in and gives us solid play, then he's done more than we can expect.

So what is the word on Austin? I haven't read any reports on him. Maybe he will be the odd man out if we only keep 5 WRs (Owens, Glenn, Crayton, Hurd, Stanback).

Hurd: time-traveller.:D

Austin isn't going anywhere. The reports that I have read have him catching fire now. He beat Newman on a pass yesterday. He's making plays when he gets the chances. He started off slow. Kiper gave him a fourth round grade. He is better physically than Hurd. We have two very good looking prospects at WR. They just need experience.

Hurd woulda had a TD last season but it got called back because of a Crayton pick block. Course, without that block, he might not have been open, guess we'll never know.

Stanback ... who?
Oh you must have missed that. Let me help. He was drafted in the 4th round last April. It was a GREAT pick btw.

I think he was saying we can forget Stanback with the play of Hurd and Austin` And I think you are right` It was a great pick although I did not think so at first`

But whatever way he meant is not realistic` Stanback is as big as Hurd, a little faster than Austin and more elusive than either. It's way too eary to compare Stanback to anyone esp with his injuries but physically and athletically he is a faster and quicker TO.
