Zach Thomas still sharp

Kevin Burnett E-mail News tips

Having played football most of my life going on 21 years, I've seen a bunch of great players. I have aslo seen what makes great players. What puts Zach in the great section is number one he has respect from his peers in the NFL. Respect in this game is earned because you have to do it for 60 plays a game and 16 games a year. Having watched Zach play when I was younger, he is always in the right place at the right time. Say what you will but, Zach Thomas is such a student of the game that he doesnt put himself in a postion where he is very easily beaten. Thats the mark of a great player and our coaches talk about it all the time knowing your opponents ability, but most of all knowing your ability.

Thanks guys for your questions and comments. The three things I want to improve are speed and quickness as we all have seen players be a half step to slow time and time again. Speed kills and you can never have to much of it. Speed in every aspect of the game first step, play recognition, and change of direction. I would also like to see my interception numbers go up. Why? Big plays are a part of my game and part of the reason I was drafted so I really have been working on my coverage skills from a zone stand point. Lastly and I want to bench 500lbs. As of about 3 weeks ago I was between 455 and 475lbs so 500lbs is in sight.

Maybe tomorrow I will share what a typical day of OTA's are like. In fact I will give you the full details of tomorrows practice.

I figured since a good number of people I see around town want to talk about the up and coming season, that's what I'll discuss first. With the number of off season moves the Cowboys have made in the last two years the expectation and the urgency of winning has reached an all time high. This is a great thing for this 2008-2009 team. We look forward to playing and although we are still developing, anything less than a SUPERBOWL would be very disappointing. If you look on last year's roster we were top five, if not the best at most positions. Having said this I do believe Mr. Jones is doing his best to put us in a position where we can't lose, leaving no room for excuses.

Now to the good part, yeah Mr. Jones wants to win but please rest assured that his will to win compares nothing to how much we as players want to win. Wait let me back up a step WIN THE SUPERBOWL because we won a lot last year. So to all of the diehard BOY'S fans a new era has begun.

Hello to all you faithful Dallas Cowboy fanatics. In case you don't know, I am Kevin Burnett #57, linebacker for the Dallas Cowboys. Just as a follow up, I will begin blogging tomorrow morning so get bright and early and check the computer.

While I'm here I hope to give you more inside of what it's like to play for America's Team. I'll bring you some day-to-day diary info, we'll discuss controversial topics, occassionally I will ask you guys and gals for topics and maybe even answer a few EDUCATED questions or two.

Wanna bet, Kev? Nobody wants it more than Jerry.

I hope many guys in the locker-room want it close to as badly as Jerry does, but I strongly doubt there's anybody who wants it more.

Which is why I love the man... in a strictly platonic way.

I don't care how much he lifts. He's plenty strong enough. Better to work on technique and leverage and how to keep guards off of you. He is working on his coverage and speed. That is his game. I don't know how the coaches and FO feel about him but he needs to show me why he deserves to be on this team or I'd let him go.

Nice feature for DMN to bring us.

Hey Q-the-man, have you ever invited your cousin to do a Q & A here?

But since your not Jerry or Wade, it doesn't matter what he shows you.

KB is the man.

This is the stuff I want to hear about. Lets hear about the rest of the team. Roy Willy has taken so much of the spotlight so far that it almost makes me sick. 13 win team and the media is just constantly concerned with bashing the hell out of a single player.

Im really waiting for the the Choice and a Bennett news.
