The Cowboys have not been an effective red-zone team the last two games, but perhaps part of that can be attributed to Jason Witten not being involved.

Against Carolina the Cowboys ran back-to-back fade calls to Roy Williams and Martellus Bennett that fell incomplete. Against Denver, Witten was a blocker on third and fourth down on the throws to Sam Hurd.

"It's always a tough situation," Witten said. "Of course, you'd like to have an opportunity to help your team win there. We knew they were coming with a blitz look, and we had to block it up. That was the responsibility there. You've got to go with that and try to give yourself a chance. Good throw, good play. Champ just made a really good play."

It's always best to have your pro bowl TE blocking inside the red zone with the game on the line. That Garrett, he's a sharp one.
