Jerry: Adam 'Pacman' Jones might play some WR

Tim MacMahon E-mail News tips
Jerry got to rambling about the Cowboys' receiver position today when he dropped this gem:

"I think potentially we could get some of those offensive plays that Adam 'Pacman' Jones ran over at Tennessee - he had 15, 20 of them, got in the slot. That could help us there too."

Jerry clearly has visions of Pacman, sporting No. 21, impersonating Deion Sanders' Prime Time days. Not sure whether the owner/GM has consulted with Wade Phillips or Jason Garrett on the matter.

Tank helping Pacman out

Albert Breer E-mail News tips

We mentioned the other day that Tank Johnson and Pacman Jones seemed to be getting on well at Jason Witten's bowling extravaganza in Dallas.

Today, Tank provided a little insight into what he can do to help his new teammate out. Maybe more than anything else, it's about showing Pacman that it can be done. A whole bunch of Cowboys have told me that they can't imagine how Tank could be a better teammate, and he thinks Pacman, ultimately, could make a similar impression.

"It's been good," Tank said of Pacman's recent arrival. "I think he can see (a personal turnaround) is possible. No matter how bad a situation you come from, you can still come out doing well and being successful."

In the brief time he's been around him, Tank has liked what he's seen from Pacman.

"I see a dude who knows he's on his last straw," Tank said. "It's kind of like I was and he's a dude who wants to prove everybody wrong and wants to get back on the field and be implemented into a family again."

I don't mean to lay a wet blanket over Breer's feel-good observations, but they loved Tank in Chicago too. That's one of the reasons why they kept him around for as long as they did.

I'm pulling for Tank. I hope it works out for him. But before people conclude that he's turned a new leaf and is now a reliable citizen, remember that he was a charming and likeable guy when he was exercising poor judgement with the Bears. He's needs to keep his nose clean for a good long while before the Cowboys can truly trust and count on him.

Yeah, getting reinstated and back into football shape are all he needs to worry about now. Receiver? Maybe later.

Tank's trangressions don't seem that bad to me. So many people own and carry guns, I guess I'm jaded about the whole subject. He should have known Illinois laws and he should have had a license for his weapons, but I just don't equate this with what Pacman got in trouble for. Tank made some bad decisions. Pacman's behavior was outright criminal. I hope they both steer clear of trouble from here on out. If hanging out together helps, more power to them, I guess.

Just to be clear, I'm not trying to pass any moral judgements on Tank or his behavior. I'm simply talking about his ability to avoid further suspensions.

From the Cowboys perspective, perhaps the worst thing that could happen with Tank is that they rely on him, that they make plans based on him, etc., only to lose him to suspension.

As far as I am concerned Tank's only problem was the company he kept. All the other criticisms of him from the NFL and media were so much hand wringing.

Pac is a different entirely, as you say. At this point we just hope he does a 180 turn in life. And catches a TD pass or two along the way...wow

they probably just want him running some go routes

Deion didn't practice at WR, and yet they plugged him in that role, I don't think spending a few plays in practice, every day, is going to overload PacMan too much

Jones would fit the Glenn spot on the roster, the smaller, quick receiver. Glenn, Amendola, and Jones are the only receivers under 6 foot.

I'm sure T-New is happy to hear that, you know, since that was one of the reasons he was rated so high (return game, occasional O). Maybe he'll lobby again

How about Newman playing some WR? We have total CB depth now......

This is the dumbest thing I've heard all off season from a Cowboy official.

Why not flex Spears out as a WR as well, he played TE well in highschool.

At this point we have TE's playing WR, RB's playing WR, QB's playing WR, why not a CB playing WR too.

OR, you could have just drafted/signed a darn WR Jerry.
