There's been plenty said on the blog about Jerry Jones' gag order of the coaches especially the head coach.
It's his right. He owns the team and he can do whatever he wants. If he doesn't want the coaches to speak, then he's the boss.
In fact, if we in the media want to know more about the team, we can ask Jones. Todd Archer has spoken to Jones in the last two days and has written some good stories from Indy.
As for whether or not Wade Phillips not speaking shows he has diminished power, I say, did he ever have any power or respect from the players?
If the team respected Phillips, they would have played hard for him in that regular season finale in Philly last year. The team didn't.
If the team respected the power of Wade Phillips, they would have beaten St. Louis last season, a team the Cowboys should never have lost to.
If the team respected the power of Wade Phillips, the locker room issues discussed here and elsewhere would have been contained.
They weren't.
Wade Phillips is a good guy. Smart guy. A guy who respects the game and wants it played the right way.
But it's all about respect. The players respect only one guy: Jerry Jones. That's it.
