Jerry on Parcells, Part 1,567,997

According to the upcoming book, “The GM: The Inside Story of a Dream Job and the Nightmares that Go with It,” which was obtained by the New York Daily News, former coach Bill Parcells met with a former colleague before the Giants-Cowboys game last December at Giants Stadium and expressed possible interest in the soon-to-be-vacated general manager’s job.

As part of a renegotiation after the 2005 season, according to Jones, Parcells could seek a GM job elsewhere in 2007 but he could not coach another team. Jones does not believe that affected Parcells’ coaching performance.

“The one thing that I never questioned and I admired him for was his focus and his attention to detail not only on gameday but other days as well,” Jones said. “He basically could have been just making sure at the time, but I don’t question his focus and his intensity for that game. That didn’t happen.”

Exactly. Those guys got where they are by looking out for #1, staying on top of information, and beating the other guy to the punch. Remember Jerry cutting QC one day after the Papa John's deal was announced?

I am tirred of people bashing parcells he made us a team again.
we were an after thought before him, and now we are on people's lists of superbowl contenders.
He made my team better and frankly, that man earned my respect for changing my team. For the rest of my life I will love and respect him for no reason other than he made a team I love better. I don't give a damn if he says he hates the cowboys, he made us better, and I truly believe he helped jerry get it moreso than he had before.

And thank God Jerry hired Jeff Ireland, who NEVER gets enough credit. And OBTW, he's STILL a Cowboy.

Parcells took a 5-11, 5-11, 5-11 team with no talent and turned our roster around. He also really fixed JJ's GM Woes. BP the coach may have aged but BP the GM done great all in all. He had some misses but he also mined some gems.

Parcells did not fit the 2007 Giants organization - JMO

And at 66, with his "my way or the highway" abrasive attitude, i seriously doubt he EVER gets a GM job, but i could be wrong.

OBTW, was Bill the GM in Dallas? I musta had a stroke and missed something.

Jerry has always been the GM ..... and always has the final say

Pretty much sums up how I feel about the Parcells era. He helped rebuild this franchise, resurrecting it from the laughingstock we had become. It ultimately left the diehard fan wanting, due to the lack of Lombardis (or playoff wins for that matter) But we are in position to make some noise for the near future. Now it's up to Wade and the Boys to finish what Bill could not.

I don't see what the big deal is even if he did meet with someone about the Giants GM job.

We won that game.

He seemed pretty happy about it too. I can't seem to find the picture of him with the goofy grin on his face after the Gramatica field goal.

I'm gonna miss that old grumpy bastid this season.

Wade better win some games to help me get over it. :D

BP per his offsite meeting to take this job had SERIOUS INPUT into making Football calls. JJ let Parcells and Ireland do that mostly.

1995-2002 draft record?
2003-2006 draft record its clear to me the BP era was an upgrade at GM

You were not in the airplane when JJ and Parcells made the deal. bp was clearly in charge of buying groceries. In fact his track record 2003-2006 blows away JJ's GM job 95-02

Now we can debate who built 1990'S team, I say Jimmy Johnson. But some I guess can say it was all JJ.
