Todd Archer E-mail News tips
Speaking on a conference call to plug Fox's work with the BCS bowls, former Cowboys coaches Jimmy Johnson and Barry Switzer said they were not surprised Jerry Jones decided to stick with Wade Phillips.
Said Johnson: "I didn't think Jerry would change regardless of what happened down the stretch with the situations with the assistant coaches and head coach right now. I felt he would stay with what he had and try to make that work."
Said Switzer: "I'm not surprised. Jerry, I didn't think, that he would make a change. They stink right now. Romo might be an overrated quarterback and gunslinger, throws the ball, takes too many chances, gambles. I just know that Jerry doesn't want to do that and he's certainly going to give it another year. I think every coach in pro football gets four years. Some get three but four years if the arrow isn't pointing up, then he's going to be gone. If a team hasn't improve, made great strides, then he's out and it's time to move on."
