what's up? I'm watching the Great Debaters at home and about to answer some questions on every and anything about sports in DFW. Let's roll Tuesday November 17, 2009 11:03

I know its been discussed many a time but why can't this staff see that Choice needs to be getting the bulk of the carries. There's clearly something off with Felix. I love Barber but he's not an every down back. Choice is well rounded and has an added burst. Actually I guess it doesn't really matter if Garrett is only going to run it 11 times a game. I think you have to be careful about making Choice the end all be all. It's just not that easy. It's a lot harder to be the starter and have the bulls-eye on your back every game. Teams don't prepare for Choice, right now, the way they prepare for Barber. They don't study his favorite plays and his tendencies and talk all week about stopping him. I like Choice and think he's excellent, but everyone's favroite player is always the backup. Tuesday November 17, 2009 11:07

How many Jon Runyan questions do you think you will get? Tuesday November 17, 2009 11:07 Morris
11:09
Not many, I hope. Runyan is 35-years-old and on the street. There's a reason for that. Either play Doug Free or cut him. If he's the backup then there shouldn't be any trepidation for playing him. You have to trust your players. Otherwise, why are they on the roster? Tuesday November 17, 2009 11:09

How would you "fix" the Cowboys? Tuesday November 17, 2009 11:10 stan
11:11
what's wrong with them? They're 6-3 in first place in the NFC East with games against Washington and Oakland coming up. Their goal was to win at least one of two games against Philadelphia and Green Bay. Mission accomplished. This is a good team - not a great team. They're going to lose at least another two games this season.

How could the Cowboys give up on the run game so easy? They turned one dimensional and even Green Bay said it made it easier for them. Tuesday November 17, 2009 11:21 Gary J
11:23
Garrett likes to throw the ball, so it's never going to take much for him to give up on the run. Secondly, there's not a runner on the team that he feels like he has to give the ball to 20 times a game, which makes it easier for him to give up on the run. The running backs ran the ball 19 times against Philly and 11 times against Green Bay. That won't get it done. Tuesday November 17, 2009 11:23

What are your thoughts on whether Phillips will be around next year? Say, we lose in the NFC Championship. Tuesday November 17, 2009 11:23 Greg
11:24
That story is still being written. I think he needs to win at least one playoff game. Then agian, I thought he was going to get fired after last year's debacle in Philadelphia. Tuesday November 17, 2009 11:24

I beleive that this team will finish second in the division. What do you think? Tuesday November 17, 2009 11:24 Guest
11:26
As I said last week on ESPN's First Take with Skip Bayless, I think the Cowboys win the NFC East with a 12-4 record. In April, I thought they would be 8-8 based on the draft and their off-season moves. At the end of training camp, I thought they would be 9-7. But as i continue to write, this team has a much different vibe to it. I like the way the players make themselves accountable. I like the way Tony Romo is playing. But I don't fully trust them. We'll see what happens in December. Tuesday November 17, 2009 11:26

Green Bay was a trap game, the whole world talked about it, Yet Wade couldn't get through his players. Is he head coach material? Tuesday November 17, 2009 11:27 Guest
11:28
I don't believe that. Sometimes, you play hard but you don't win. If they had played without energy and effort like they did in the first half against Kansas City, then it would've been different. Trap game is an excuse. They just lost. Tuesday November 17, 2009 11:28

Need to fire Jason Garett, we need a experience offensive cordinator, like mike shanahan Tuesday November 17, 2009 11:28 peter
11:29
Before Sunday, this team averaged 27.4 points, 405 yards and 6.5 yards per play. If you wanted Garrett fired after the Seattle game, I'd be more impressed. Tuesday November 17, 2009 11:29

Watching Indy Sunday down by 17 and the "Boys" down by 17, was like the difference between confidence to come back and panic and futility. Take the gloves off pro or con and give us your take on Garrett. Tuesday November 17, 2009 11:29 djt

The Colts have won more games this decade than any other. They have played in 15 playoff games and won a championship. The Cowboys haven't won a playoff game since 1996. Right now, there's no comparison between the teams. Tuesday November 17, 2009 11:30

WHY does Dallas continue to be in shotgun on first and goal frm the 1?? All they needed to do was give it to barber and bang it in. Too many times have I seen dallas in the shotgun near the goal line! Please tell garrett to run the freakin ball more JJT!! Tuesday November 17, 2009 11:30 cee jay
11:31
Good question. Next time I see Garrett, I'll ask him philosophically why he does it. I'd just as soon line up in the I Formation and get it done.

Check out my column on-line or in today's paper. Or, maybe, the Cowboys just need to play their young linemen and see what they've got. It's never going to be convenient, but it needs to be done. Tuesday November 17, 2009 11:34

Roy Williams even with two bad plays Sunday seems to be making progress with Romo. Your take? Tuesday November 17, 2009 11:34 California Cowboy
11:35
I think the Cowboys have finally figured out what he does well - slants, fades and outs - and his timing with Romo has improved on those routes. He has 10 catches for 180 yards and a TD in the past two games. Tuesday November 17, 2009 11:35

What up JJT, It's clear that Barber and Jones are not fully recovered frm their injuries with how they are running the ball. With tht said, why don't the cowboys give Choice (who is the only healthy rb) more carries in the gm because the running gm has been poor over the last 4 gms or so? Choice has shown that he can carry more of a load yet dallas still won't give him more carries. What gives?? Tuesday November 17, 2009 11:35 cee jay
11:38
Actually, the Cowboys say Barber is fairly healthy. I talked about Choice earlier. It doesn't matter who's running the ball, if Jason Garrett doesn't give whoever it is enough carries to find a rhythm. Tuesday November 17, 2009 11:38

I keep hearing how this gm vs wash is supposed to be an "easy" victory. Folks forget tht wash BEAT dallas here last yr and they are coming off a big win vs denver. With all the injuries, do you think wash can come here and get a victory? i think its going to be closer than the 12 points that dallas is favored by. Your thoughts? Tuesday November 17, 2009 11:39 footballman
11:40
There's a difference between an 'easy" victory and a game the Cowboys should win. Dallas is the better team, playing at home so it should win. That said Washington has won 5 of the last 8 games between the teams. I think Dallas blows them out because I like the way the defense is playing and I don't think Washington can score enough to keep it close. Tuesday November 17, 2009 11:40

your right, 405 yards a game is good, but 2 straight weeks where the team has a hard time scoring..it sounds like is going downhill, and with hamlin out..colombo out(romo blind side) not sure we can beat the Commanders. Tuesday November 17, 2009 11:41 Pancho Villa
11:42
The season is about adjustments. Philly and Green Bay are good defenses. They made adjustments and shut down the Cowboys, so now it's time for Jason Garrett to adjust. Good teams fight through adversity. No one said it would be easy. Tuesday November 17, 2009 11:42

JJT, I realize this is just one game and we are still in the drivers seat for a playoff spot. But what are some of the keys for this team to get their focus back and avoid the December swoon they are notorious for? Tuesday November 17, 2009 11:42 D
11:44
focus is not the issue. This is a good team - not a great team. Jason Garrett has to commit to the run, Miles Austin and Roy Williams must be playmakers in the passing game, the defense must continue to excel and the Cowboys need to greatly reduce their pre-snap penalties. waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to early for the draft. We don't even know who's in the draft. I love your passion, but patience is a virtue.

Flozell dominates Osi and Abraham at home, but looks terrible vs. lesser players on the road. It's obviously due in part to being one half step slow due to his hearing problems. Why doesn't Jerry insist that Flozell wear a hearing aid? Tuesday November 17, 2009 11:46 Tim
11:46
the hearing problem is overblown. It's not that big of a deal. Procedure penalties are strictly about focus
