Jon Kitna has thrown for 27,293 yards in his NFL career. If he doesn't add to that total, that's fine by him.

Kitna isn't fooling himself into thinking that he'll compete for a starting job with the Cowboys. He's well aware that Tony Romo is the franchise quarterback, and he understands his role as a backup.

"They're not looking for me to push Tony or anything like that," Kitna said on a conference call. "The ultimate thing for me would be to never have to play a down - Tony plays great and all that stuff.

"I think that has to be the attitude of the backup. I'm ready to play, and I'm ready to step in if I have to play. But for me to play, that means something bad has to happen, either things aren't going well or Tony gets hurt or whatever. I don't want people backing me up to think that way - 'Oh, I can't wait for my shot' - and I certainly don't want to be that way.

"That's the way I was with Carson Palmer [in Cincinnati]. I'm going to do everything I can to help [Romo], whatever he needs me to do. You know, I'm a competitive person, but they didn't bring me here to push him."

Well, we could be blowing the other team out by like 28 in the 4th quarter and then he goes in. Couldn't we?

I don't. My body would go into shock.

I was thinking the same thing...I wouldnt know how to handle the lack of frustration and worry...probably with a healthy dose of skeptisism..until I watched the replay later to reasure myself it wasnt a nafarious ploy by ESPN to trick me.

Not with Ken Hamlin and Killa back there...

Did we release Roy or are people assuming. I am still thinking that Roy will rstructure his contract and stay. I will keep believing that until a better option presents itself.

It was reported earlier that RW38s agent told Cowboys they want a restructure, trade or release by tomorrow. I guess he doesn't realize he doesn't have any leverage.

If a team wants him, they'll wait until he's released. I don't think someone will cough up some draft picks for him, IMO. Maybe we can trade him for Jones straight up.

I love me some Kitna already. Great attitude! Romo, say hello to your new mentor/friend/confidant.

I would rather have a QB who wanted to compete for a starting job not saying Kitna would ever stand a chance of beating out Romo but just resigning him self to a backup role won't make him or Romo any better

Don't get it twisted!!! He's saying "all the right things". We all know a guy like him thinks differently but I like what he is trying to do for the team and Romo.

Our best chance is with Romo running the offense. Period. That said, if Romo goes down for any length of time I now have renewed confidence that our offense won't resemble the makeup of a wet noodle while he heals up.

Just like I want to be a CEO of a fortune 500 company but never have to make any decisions. I'd also like to get paid millions to work out 5 days a week.

I agree with him. I hope he never sees a snap unless it's in garbage time.
