DMN Blog: Jones says backup QB not priority

Honestly the series in which Johnson was with the starting line, he didn't look that bad. He made a nice little pass to Crayton over the middle. Sure it will be a short game but I think that once he see's the defence creeping up he will hit TO deep.

Once the second team O-line came in that is when things went to hell, as they were getting pushed into the backfield as soon as the ball was snapped. The one saving grace in all of this is that the second team players will not be playing as a group in a real game.

"As I'm standing here right now, I think he can be the answer," Jerry said of Johnson.

Typical Jerry disclaimer.

I think if Dallas can find an upgrade they will until then Johnson is the backup for the foreseeable future. I think Johnson can hold down the fort if Romo goes out for a few games. There is a big difference in the weapons he would have compared to playing with backups and 3rd string players.

I agree Jerry isnt going to openly admit we need a vet backup. but in all honesty we will have a big problem if Romo goes down.Chris Simms isnt the answer either imo. I personally would go after after Jay Fiedler or someone who is at least familiar with Jason Garrett's offense.

AbeBeta is dead on. This is posturing on the part of Jerrah...if he advertises a need for QB, the price he has to pay goes up.
