Todd Archer E-mail News tips

Word has it the free-agent running back is visiting with the Titans today after spending the last couple of days in Detroit. Seattle was a possibility, but the Seahawks signed T.J. Duckett to a five-year deal on Tuesday.

Tennessee would be a good spot for Jones. LenDale White went for more than 1,000 yards last year, and Chris Brown was a decent backup, but Jones, who knows he has something to prove, would add a speed dimension the Titans lack in the running game.

I believe Jones can still be a starting running back. Maybe he's not the next Emmitt Smith or Tony Dorsett as some predicted after the finish to his rookie season, but he's not a bad runner. With offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger running a Denver-like ground game, Jones would excel in the one-cut system.

For all of the Vince Young lovers out there, Jones would give the UT-ex a lot of help.

Good spot for Jones if he can beat Brown for the #2 spot. I watch as many Ten games as I can since I like Vince, so it'd be nice to still get to see the pile magnet often. :)

If he can't beat out Brown I feel sorry for him.

When did he learn how to do that?

None of the zone blocking squads have even contacted him yet.

Here's one guy who isn't surprised.

I think Brown is a decent back, at least as good as Julius. It surprises me he doesn't get the ball more. I'll never forget a juke move he put on our Roy Williams and ran into the endzone for a TD when we played them a couple years ago...although, it wasn't that the juke was so good, it's that Roy took a bad angle and missed the tackle.

I expected the Broncos to be a good fit for Julius, but I guess they're not showing interest yet.

Brown is decent when healthy. He's just to injury prone.
