Excellent fit! I'm sure the other players will oblige him by pointing the finger his way when we lose and taking the credit for him when we win.

That describes Demarcus Ware, too.

good guy, (great) player. hard worker, right attitude.

If its not working with Ware rubbing off on other players (which is implied), then why would a washed up Brooking change anything?

Washed up? He's only 33. Dawkins is 35 and just signed a five year contract, partly because of his leadership. Either way, we got off on the cheap with Brooking.

Actually, if Brooking wins the starting job, then I hope this is the case. He seems heady, and having played under Wade before will help.

But the D needs someone else to line up the front 7, b/c the last 2 seasons or so, the front 7 always seem to be confused as to how or where they are supposed to line up, right up to the frikkin snap most times.

Well if Brooking turns out to be a powder puff LB we're in trouble.

I don't see the Thomas and Brooking comparison. It may turn out true with their play but I don't think it will be that similar. Thomas is 5-10 at best and is listed at 213. I believe 225-230 but not a lot bigger. Brooking is 6-2 and 240. I don't think that necessarily means he's better but it will help some. He just can't be slower than Thomas. It isn't physically possible is it?

Um, I'm just hoping he plays better than Zach. And that he plays better than he talks.

Seriously, how far have we sunk when we're swooning over this old guy who was headed for reserveville in Atlanta?

We already have our stud: Ware. He's the leader he's the defensive monster and I am getting tired about this lack of respect for Ware's leadership qualities.

No one should come in yakking about leadership or be anointed as a leader. He needs to earn that mantel first on America's Team.

Barry Horn

I was watching a video about the Cowboys newest linebacker and he happened to mention his playing philosophy. I think I heard him correctly when he said, "Take the blame and give all the credit. That's the key...That's the great thing about football. If it's not for the other 10 guys you're not going to have success."

Yes, he says that. I listened to it again. He says it around the 1:50 mark in the video.

I think it's been awhile since those words were uttered in the Cowboys locker room.

Thanks to DCF for posting the YouTube.

I think it will sound like a foreign language to many of them.

I can't wait until we see Ellis, James, and Brooking on the field together.

It will be the slowest, unathletic, and worst LB coverage unit possibly to grace the NFL.

Should make for some exciting stuff.
HAHAHA, I have no idea why that made me laugh out loud. It really isn't funny.

I'm just not high on players on the downside of their careers. Even Ray Lewis scared me in this regard -- you just hoped that, given that at his peak he was sooo ridiculously good, that a slowed-down version is still better than most.

But Brooking? I like the fact he hasn't missed a game in like six years, but I seriously wonder what he has left in the tank. The fact we could get him for $6 million tells you a little about what the rest of the league thinks about him, too, I'm afraid.

I'd be lying if I pretended that I watched Atlanta football. I don't, so I have no real informed opinion of the guy other than that it seems the perception is he's well past his prime. That scares me.

I think the similarity is they're both older, well past their prime, and leaders who, by all accounts, seem to lead more by example and less by rah-rah talk.

Hence, the sentiment we're trading one washed up guy for another.

Get ready for Brooking and Barbie to share the same role cause it doesn't look like Burnett is coming back...

Well that isn't exactly a quality you want in a head coach. Excusing players for mistakes when its clear as day that it was the players fault does nothing for anyone.

And didn't Wade take the blame for mistakes in a preseason game BEFORE the game? I could have sworn he told the team that in one of the Hard Knocks episodes.

Taking blame is all about making yourself accountable to those who depend on you. Wade taking blame for someone screwing up the play out on the field does nothing. That player stepping up and tell the others it was his fault makes tells his teammates that he will work on improving.

Oh, this will not go over very well in the Dallas locker room. He will have a chore on his hands getting this message out to our collection of finger-pointers.

Take all the credit and blame someone else. :bang2::banghead::bang2::banghead:

I never even think about skin color until someone else points it out to me.

Blue, silver, and white with a star. That is what I see. I don't care enough about the rest to give a hang.
