Keith Brooking wants action

Keith Brooking played the 150th game of his career Sunday. He knows he doesn't have too many of them left.

And Brooking has a reason why the Cowboys have not been able to play well at times this year. Take a look:

"I don't know if this is going to sound right, but there's a fine line between being desperate and pushing the panic button," Brooking said. "We've got to be desperate to win. We've got to be desperate on Wednesday. Actually we've got to be desperate tomorrow when we watch film. Be accountable, look ourselves in the mirror and not say, 'If this guy would've done this,' or, 'If this guy would've done that,' but look yourself in the mirror and figure out what you can do to make the team better.

"We've got to be desperate on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and win the ballgame on the practice field. I'm a big believer in that. We've got to practice better."

In a short time Brooking has become one of the biggest heartbeats of this defense in the same way Brian Dawkins has done in Denver.

"We've got to make the plays when it's time to make them in the ballgame offensively, defensively and special teams," Brooking said. "We've got to be more consistent on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and that's when you win ballgames. I'm not panicking. I'm desperate. I want to win so bad, but I'm not panicking. We've got three quarters to play in our season and we can't keep saying this week in and week out. We have to act now."

Roy Williams aching

Roy Williams took a big shot from Denver linebacker D.J. Williams throw in the fourth quarter and while he was able to return for the next series, he didn't last long.

After his 15-yard grab while being blanketed by Champ Bailey, he was unable to continue to play.

"Never in my life have I been hit like that from Pop Warner through my six years in the league," Williams said. "I'm ,52300 feet above sea level with asthma so I was obviously hurting."

Had he been healthy, Williams would have been in the game on the Tony Romo throws to Sam Hurd. Could he have come down with either of the slants with a bigger frame?

don't tell Tony that, Keith or we can expect another multiple turnover game from him.

Well when the HC doesn't act like he's desperate why would the players? Brooking is a good guy and feel that he's been duped by the hype.

What does it say about our team/staff/mindset when a player (admittedly a team leader while in Atlanta) in his first year can walk in and speak the truth about our preparation?

Pathetic really that this lack of leadership has permeated this team FOR YEARS.

If only Brooking had been here for a decade, so he could actually affect change.

That just goes to show you that Wade is content with the practices being mediocre. If Brooking is saying what I'm pretty sure he is saying then it explains 300% why this team never shows up on Sundays. HC doesn't demand perfection during practices and expects the players to "turn it on" on gameday.

Exactly...it's been the unspoken truth. Our coach doesn't pay attention to detail, does not provide intensity in practice and it manifests itself in games.

That is why we are where we are.

Well, Tomlin benched Mendenhall for goofing off in practice and is sitting Limus Sweed tonight. Maybe we should try some of that.......

I wish we had a team full of people with Brooking and Jay Ratliffs attitude. The fact that he was there trying to run down Marshall on his TD play really tells me that those two guys are leaders on this team. We need more like them.

This is what I was talking about in another thread when I said I would like to be a fly on the bench in one of their practices. I just think some things are being left undone by a coach that carries a ho hum attitude to these practices/meetings. I applaud Brooking for being the lone player that really puts it out there to be contemplated. Coming into this fray fresh, he is probably seeing deficiencies that our players have learned to see as commonplace. He is becoming even more of a leader for this team every week.

RW: nothing but excuses: he should go find Jimmy's asthma field and play on it: SOFT.......

Brooking is accountable and a real Pro: not a surprise: will his observations be too little and too late? hope not..........

the red zone INT was a perfect example of the team not working hard in practice. Romo and Austin should be on the same page by now, you would think.

And maybe they don't practice the 2 minute drill like they should. Hurd should have stepped out of bounds when he can tell the play wouldnt go any further. To save time and to give the team a chance to catch their collective breathe in that high altitude at the end of the game.

Also, on the replay of Hurd's long play, I noticed Flo just standing there with 3 broncos ready to kill Romo. Annoying

So Brooking thinks they are not taking practice seriously? Sounds very familiar...and so are the results.

The guy even boars his coaches, what a great player!

Expect to see Brooking cut this week for telling the truth and we all thought it was TO. You see TO practice hard while everyone else goof off so he expected the ball more because he was the only one practicing hard...
