Keith Davis signs with Oakland

It was pretty clear the Cowboys were looking elsewhere for safety and special teams' help this off-season, and as a result Keith Davis has a new home in Oakland.

Davis, who led the Cowboys in special teams' stops with 20 in 2008, signed with the Raiders on Thursday. He had visited Kansas City earlier this off-season.

Davis was the heart of the special teams' unit and was one of the Cowboys' best leaders. He was unafraid to voice his feelings. He played hard. He played hurt. He played tough.

The Cowboys will miss Davis this year for what he brings to the locker room. It said a lot about how his teammates felt about him when he was named captain last year despite being on the roster only a few days after his release by Miami.

Sucks to see a guy you root for end up on a team like the Raiders.

Couldn't have picked a better area for Davis. He's got the street cred to play in Oaktown.

Love him as a player though, he's a great special teamer - but he's always been asked to start for us, while hurt to boot.

Good luck Killa.

I'm not sure, but I think K Davis' contract may need to have a certain amount guaranteed and be at least around $1mm/yr to reap the comp pick benefits.

I thought that was the case with Z Thomas, at least.

We need Adam to shed light on this.

Agreed. Luckily, the guys I don't root for typically end up with the Bengals.

Shot twice, and still apparently unafraid of bullets. Amazing.

Maybe it said more about the other players Dallas had on special teams.

Even Killa couldn't help our pathetic special teams last year. Maybe Coach D wants a completely new attitude anyway. Good luck to Keith, but not that tacky ball club he's with now. Can't stand them. Hope the Cowboys kick some silver and black *** on Thanksgiving.

There's nothing about this post that I didn't agree with.
