10:25 Brian Davis: Field update: Romo is on the field talking with Brad Sham. He's just holding a football. Now he just fired off a 15-yard out route to Miles Austin.

10:26 Brian Davis: Doubt it on Burnett. That's why they signed Carlos Polk, an eight-year pro last week.

10:28 Brian Davis: Field update: Romo just threw a 30-yard pass to Austin going over the middle. He looks like if push comes to shove, the Cowboys can send him into the fray for sure.

10:29 Tim MacMahon: According to Wade Phillips, SS Roy Williams will return to the starting lineup. With Pat Watkins out again, Courtney Brown will play in the nickel and dime packages.

10:29 Brian Davis: Yes. Call me crazy, but I think this secondary has missed him badly the last few weeks. I know OU Roy Williams doesn't play on passing downs. But I'd take a Pro Bowler out there over the alternatives.

I understand Crayton is considered the #3 receiver, but don't you think there it is possible that Austin will be the third receiver in some 3 wide sets? He brings a speed dimension unlike Crayton, Roy, and won't get doubled up like Owens.

10:41 Tim MacMahon: I could definitely see that. As you mentioned, Austin is a legitimate deep threat. That isn't the case with Crayton.

Crayton does his best work as a slot receiver, but T.O. also likes to line up in the slot. I could definitely see the Cowboys have a set that has Austin and Roy Williams as the outside receivers with T.O. in the slot.


10:41 Brian Davis: The whole No. 3 receiver issue is something that hasn't gotten much attention, but it will soon. My guess is Crayton won't like being labeled the "No. 3" receiver alongside Austin. But that's how it goes when the team trades for a Pro Bowler. I'm curious today to see how many balls get thrown to Crayton and Austin. We're expecting UT Williams to get 15-20 snaps.
